Job Title: Marketing - CS - Marketing Assistant
Anticipated Start Date: 24/09/2013
Building Location: Reading


Role Purpose
Responsible for supporting the OEM Marketing team in all aspects of OEM Co-Partner marketing responsibilities. This will involve owning programmatic activities to include the CHIP incentive programme, managing assets for global marketing campaigns that are executed locally and supporting the marketing team in executing marketing activities. The role may also require the individual to manage a few resellers from a marketing perspective. This would involve working with the account and the Partner account manager to agree on the marketing priorities, approving marketing plans, raising PO’s, collecting Proof of execution and approving invoices.
The person in this role will also assist the OEM marketing team part to execute the Devices strategy in the consumer channels group.

Team/Department Mission
Microsoft is changing as a company and is evolving to become a Devices and Services company. The OEM Department works closely with Multi National Accounts, Distribution and Resellers to drive demand. The Marketing Team in OEM builds Marketing Plans jointly with the OEMs that drive Marketing activities that support the sales teams in OEM achieving their revenue goals. We also ensure that we drive compliance within the co-marketing programmes and manage budgets to fit with the fiscal calendar and programme deadlines. The OEM department aims to grow the PC market and grow our share against our key competitors, Google and Apple.


Key Accountabilities
• Own key programmatic activities for the team and support the other Channel Marketing Managers
• Be a go to person for Devices in the OEM Marketing team
• If owning accounts, develop joint marketing plans with OEM partners and ensure the Partner executes these plans in the agreed timescales
• When applicable, communicate and inform our partners on products, marketing efforts, engagement opportunities, events, resources and training, etc.to drive partners to action on key metrics.
• Train partners on the Marketing Programmes to ensure compliance
• Feed into the Monthly 'Rhythm of the Business' and reporting with relevant examples and data points

Key Success Criteria
• Understanding of Global incentive programmes
• Execution of Global Marketing Campaigns at a local level

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

1) Essential Experience
• 1-2 years in a partner/channel marketing or related role preferably with experience at or working with or at Dell / HP / Sony etc)
• Ability to work in a high pressure environment whilst delivering against tactics effectively and accurately.
• Ability to Prioritise activities in line with goals.



2) Technical/Functional Skills
• Experience of working in the channel is essential and working with retail would be an advantage to be successful in this role.
• Core marketing skills (effective use of the marketing mix)
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Core presentation skills / confidence
• Ability to manage budgets / proven numeric ability
• Very organized with strong attention to detail


3) Personal Attributes/Interpersonal Skills
• Ability to manage a very large and fluctuating workload with multiple priorities, deadlines and contacts in a fast paced environment
• Great verbal, telephone and written communication skills
• Very strong team player but with ability to work on own initiative
• Customer focused and Customer satisfaction oriented

4) Qualifications
• Relevant degree or Institute of Marketing qualification
• Sales/marketing experience (in software industry preferred)
• Relevant marketing experience (in OEM or in the Partner channel)


Special Requirements/Additional Information e.g. Language Skills
• Fluent in both verbal and written English
• Clean driving license
• Ability to work outside normal hours as dictated by business requirements i.e. travel to Partners, calls to the US in the evening etc.
• Ability to travel in Europe and as business dictates to the US

Person and Personality type:

1. Has had previous experience of working with partners in a channel marketing capacity, creating plans, raising PO’s etc.
2. Confident and a self-starter
3. Organised, structured, good attention to detail
