Marketing & Communications Manager

The Marketing and Communications Manager works with the VP, Marketing, Communications and Membership to develop, implement and manage marketing and communication strategies, which are aligned with the organization’s strategic plan. The position plays a critical role in the organization’s ability to meet or exceed registration and revenue targets for client's events, including Scientific Sessions, meeting budgeted product sales and membership targets, and supporting key initiatives identified by the Board and member-led committees. The incumbent is responsible for all marketing activities including direct mail, social media outreach, videos, and e-mail campaigns; manages the organization’s public relations initiatives; develops the client's newsletters; and manages the client's marketing deliverables for sponsors and reciprocal agreements. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with the VP of Marketing, Communications, and Membership to develop annual marketing/communications budget.
  • Implement the annual marketing plan, and all short-term marketing plans, to meet or exceed registration and revenue targets for client events, including Scientific Sessions, meet budgeted product sales and membership targets, and support key initiatives identified by the client Board and member-led committees.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with outside vendors and industry partners.
  • Manage marketing deliverables for all reciprocal and sponsorship agreements.
  • Oversight for all marketing campaigns and materials (direct mail, e-mail, social media, etc.).
    • Ensure that messages are supportive of and consistent with marketing strategies.
    • Deliver content and engage members via LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
    • Schedule, write, and deliver e-mail and direct mail campaigns.
    • Create brochures and other collateral to support development activities.
    • Organize bi-monthly Twitter Chats.
  • Work with the VP, Marketing, Communications and Membership to develop communication campaigns
    • Identify communication opportunities, develop, and execute communications strategy.
    • Develop key messaging architecture and specific language for all communications
  • Lead the development of Scientific Sessions promotions, branding, special sessions, and communications to all attendees.
  • Develop yearly social media sessions for Scientific Sessions.
  • Responsible for creation and dissemination of the client's newsletters.
  • Ensure that client and brand messages are consistent.
  • Enforce branding policies. Manage a system that ensures all communications sent out by client meet client’s branding guidelines.
  • Provide marketing/design guidance to client staff as requested to promote effective branding.
  • Provide back-up support to the Vice President, Marketing, Communications, and Membership on special projects.
  • Support tradeshow strategy and execution of marketing initiatives at participating conferences.
  • Conduct regular meetings with key stakeholders in other departments to ensure that marketing needs are being met.
  • With the CXO, VP, and Web Manager, develop and manage marketing video content strategy.
  • Develop video content with subject matter experts and oversee the editing and brand compliance of all videos distributed by the client.
  • Organize and prepare proposals and presentations using marketing resource materials such as brochures, data, slides, photographs, and reports.
  • Identify database list selection and outside list purchases for mailings; create, track and update a master promotional schedule and routinely update the schedule with campaign status and results to date.
  • Manage website content for client
  • Design print ads and publications.
  • Manage the Communications Committee and its initiatives.
  • With the VP, Marketing, Communications, and Membership, lead an interdepartmental team to review cross-promotional opportunities and develop strategies for the marketing of new events, products, and membership.
