 Are you an animal lover?  We are in need of a MarCom Writer for an Association Client located Schaumburg. This assignment is approximately 5-6 months. This position will report to an Assistant Director within the Marketing and Communications Division


Position Responsibilities: 
· Write and edit content for webpages, emails, blog posts, media releases, print materials, and advertisements, adhering to established production schedules 

· Develop content that reflects AVMA’s editorial voice and tone and aligns with brand guidelines 

· Research programs, products and services to understand, extend and, in some cases, create the messages that will resonate with target audiences 

· Interview subject matter experts and translate that information into relevant messaging and storytelling, where appropriate 

· Write for a variety of target audiences, ranging from veterinarians to animal lovers and members of the general public 

· Copy edit materials that are in the production pipeline for readability, grammar, style and messaging 

· Apply SEO principles to website copy, including page content, keyword integration, and meta tags to achieve best possible ranking and drive demand for the content 

· Assist in media relations activities, including coordinating with local and national press as needed, fielding media inquiries and assisting with press room preparations 

· Edit and revise content based on feedback 

· Assist with writing or scheduling social media content as needed 

· Perform or assist with audits of existing website content assets 

· Work cooperatively in a team environment and participate in project planning sessions with team members. Use creative briefs to develop messaging that can be utilized across multiple vehicles within a campaign 

Required Skills/Qualifications: 
· Minimum 4-7 years of writing experience, including digital content development expertise and a portfolio to support it 

· Knowledge of website content usability standards and practices 

· Strong understanding of email marketing best practices 

· Demonstrated knowledge of SEO principles and experience writing for SEO. Certification preferred 

· Ability to create a compelling story from sometimes dense, scientific information. Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing and research skills 

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite 

· Strong organizational and communication skills 

Educational Requirements: 
· Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, English or related field.
