Managing Editor, Digital Media

Aquent’s energy client is looking for a permanent Managing Editor, Digital Media for its San Ramon offices. The Managing Editor, Digital Media is editor-in-chief for the client’s global corporate website and its other corporate external Internet properties, including social media sites.

The position is responsible for content strategy, content creation and providing editorial oversight and work direction to the interactive communications team and contractors as necessary. Strong storytelling experience and the ability to create thoughtful and engaging content (video, graphics, text) for delivery on the Internet is required.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the content strategy and editorial oversight for the client’s website and related external-facing Internet properties – includes editorial calendar, content assignments, video production, copy editing, approval and clearance, and feedback.
- Develop engaging digital stories and communications that advances the client’s corporate reputation.
- Provide editorial vision and tactical direction for how content is created and distributed across the client’s external Internet channels (.com, social media, mobile)
- Manage and maintain the editorial standards and guidelines for corporate external Internet communications.
- Work on special assignments as needed that require video, animation, infographics, writing, editing and editorial oversight for external audiences.
- Provide editorial advice and direction to other Chevron business units.
- Manage content team of writers, editors, video producers, and external contractors.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Proven ability to strategize, manage and develop interactive content for the external-facing Internet that enhances a company's brand and reputation
- Ability to prioritize editorial resources and coordinate schedules, budgets and staffing needs.
- Experience in generating and managing content for a "destination site" with engaging content and interactive community elements.
- Knowledge and experience with multiple online channels (Web, social media, mobile)
- Track record for building a large online audience.
- Experience providing communications and editorial advice/direction for a large multi-national organization.
- Experience working with interactive marketing agencies and advertising agencies.
- Knowledge of AP style and principles of "writing for the Web/rich media."
- Experience producing documentary-style video.
