Our client is located in Old Town Alexandria, (walking distance to the King Street Metro) is seeking a Manager of Communications for an onsite, Contract-to-Hire Opportunity. The Director of Communications will be responsible for developing an overall communications and marketing strategy, along with being hands-on with Web, Publications, Marketing, Social Media and Public Relations.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and develop content for publications.
• Oversee the layout of publications by an outside contractor.
• Develop an annual editorial calendar.
• Write articles.
• Manage advertising including obtaining and invoicing advertisers.
• Develop and maintain an annual budget.
• Develop and implement an association social media strategy designed to increase and enhance the association’s use of social media.
• Monitor, edit, and update the content on social media outlets.
• Review and develop content on the website that will engage members and those visiting the website.
• Assist departments with marketing including the development of schedules, brochures, and marketing communications.
• Develop a branding strategy to increase the awareness.
• Manage the Association’s public relations activities including drafting press releases.
• Write annual awards brochure.
• Provide staff support to selected committees and taskforces.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Five years of relevant experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
