Media Manager
The Media Manager manages the execution of paid media (including SEM), direct response (including email) campaigns and periodic reporting. This includes research, negotiation, buying, bidding, vendor management and project management. Additionally, the Media Manager will work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy and Media Director to ensure all measurement elements are planned and put in place during campaigns.

Principal accountabilities

In addition to following agency policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic planning

Creates RFPs and sends to the print and online publishers selected in conjunction with Media Director.
Tracks and coordinates RFP responses, lead follow-up for additional questions.
Manages internal understanding of paid media landscape and potential via reporting from IMS AdSpyder tool.
Media buying tasks include:
Creates estimates and purchase orders of media buys approved by Media Director.
Acquires and shares with creative and digital strategies team all creative specs, as provided by publishers.
Traffics creative to media and coordinates schedules with account and creative teams.
Measurement of online campaigns (including ad-serving reports), including establishment of tracking links and creation of reports for Media Director, often via Google Analytics or another tool selected by client.
QC of placed media to ensure campaigns run as negotiated.

SEM campaign management

Sets up and manages SEM campaigns, ensuring budget parameters, agreed keywords and timing of maintenance are in place.
Manages internal understanding of SEM potential, prior to client proposals, via reporting on keyword volume and costs via AdWords and other tools.
SEM Management tasks include:
Optimization of SEM campaigns, with an eye toward balancing value and volume within budget parameters.
Measurement of SEM campaigns, including establishment of tracking links and creation of reports for Director of Digital Strategies, often combining search dashboard reports and Google Analytics or another tool selected by client.
Coordination of SEM with other client media efforts.

Direct response campaign management

Lists research for postal, email, telemarketing for rental or data appending.
Lists rental logistics for postal, email, telemarketing, including count requests; purchase orders; client estimates; trafficking of creative for approval, seed lists and suppression lists; coordination of testing for email blasts; quality control of rented lists.
Measurement of direct campaigns, including creating tracking links; coordinates schedules with account and creative teams.
Data service bureau management for house and rented lists, including vendor management/instructions (e.g., deduping(?), Nthing, appending, NCOA, etc.); cost estimates; purchase orders; trafficking of lists between list manager, data service bureau, client and outside vendors (call centers, lettershops, etc.); coordination of back-end analysis (matchbacks, etc.).
Telemarketing call-center management, including estimates; purchase orders; schedules; reports.
Email marketing campaign management, including deployment via clients ESP; schedules; estimates; reports.
Interpersonal skills

Exhibits a strong client-service mentality with both internal (account and creative services) and external clients.
Establishes sound and effective working relationships internally with client team members and with client; resolves conflicts or roadblocks that would interfere with completing assigned projects.
Fiscal responsibility

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all estimates and purchase orders submitted to internal clients, external clients and vendors via the agency’s Advantage system, including the consistent and proper application of agency markup.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all vendor invoices in accordance with previously submitted purchase orders.
Works with accounts payable and Chief Financial Officer to establish credit terms with partners and vendors.
Subject-matter expertise

Responsible for actively learning about and forming relationships with key B2B publishers, list managers, data service bureaus and media technology vendors with offerings in agency clients’ industries.
Responsible for bringing new media and list opportunities to the attention of the Media Director, Senior Marketing Strategist—Direct and Account Supervisor where appropriate.
Required experience

Three to six years of direct media experience in an advertising/marketing agency.
