Our client, a major jewelry retail brand is Looking for a Merchant Assistant to join their team! The Merchant Assistant will report to the Senior Merchant, and will be responsible for assisting in the merchandising of jewelry for the season by:
• Assisting with design and production coordination
• Preparing purchase orders and sales reports
• Conducting in-depth market research
• Conducting historical, competitive and financial analysis
• Performing assortment planning and general organization of the product
• Maintaining sample status and checking quality
• Assisting with data entry
• Conducting in-store visits and participating in floorsets

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in merchandising lifecycle from developmental/conceptual stage to in-store
• Support the Merchant/Senior Merchant in developing a line plan that represents the Brand and is aligned with the seasonal merchandise strategies
• Prepare competitive intelligence, customer intimacy, fashion radar and business analysis to achieve volume and profit goals
• Perform sales, margin, inventory and markdown analysis
• Own Purchase Order preparation and entry
• Support cross-functional teams in sample management
• Complete data entry and system maintenance
• Create and manage seasonal image plans
• Assist in creation of seasonal product knowledge
• Attend monthly floorset meetings with the team to set-up new product
• BUILD REVENUE
• Understand the Brand target customer by tracking and experiencing customer attitude and lifestyle and participating in selecting product that appeals to the customer's taste

QUALIFICATIONS
• Understanding of vertically-integrated retail operations
• Broad-based business acumen with the potential to grow to the Associate and Merchant levels
• High intelligence with a true entrepreneurial risk mentality, strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Acute sense of brand and customer intimacy
• Acute fashion sense with proven talent to envision and interpret fashion trends
• Demonstrated leadership potential
• Ability to manage through conflict and problem-solve
• Exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to innovate change through visionary thinking and strategic management
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiating and influencing skills

• Systems and computer savvy (MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SAP)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
• 1-3 years of related work experience in Brand Development and Merchandise Buying
