Licensing Manager

Large Media and Entertainment company is seeking a Licensing Manager to join their Consumer Products team. The Manager is responsible for managing one or several sub-categories and the associated licensee base with the goal of meeting or exceeding predetermined revenue targets and growth objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Finance and Business Planning:
" Fiscal responsibility for assigned categories to include annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecasting.
" Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process. Develop strategies and business plans by retailer, brand and property.
" Strategize, identify and develop new business opportunities. Manage the process from concept to pitch, to licensee on-boarding, contract negotiation and contract signature.

Brand and Content Management:
" Manage specific hardlines product categories within the brand portfolio
" Help define and integrate licensees within wider brand and marketing plans
" Strategically outline and develop licensees product information in support of marketing and brand presentations and sales meetings

Category Management:
" Accountable for management of all licensees within the assigned portfolio, which includes contract negotiation, resolving issues, reviewing/approving submissions (product, marketing & PR), and guiding promotion/advertising initiatives.
" Research & understand competitive landscape. Analyze and understand market trends, consumer and retailer and industry needs.
" Analyze account business performance and develop/drive growth objectives that are aligned with company initiatives.
" Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, competitors, business opportunities, threats and dynamics.
" Develop and implement product strategies, merchandising and marketing plans to ensure sales are maximized and marketing objectives are met.
" Set-up and lead licensees business reviews.
" Ensure licensee requests are researched and responded to in a timely fashion
" Perform all functions of "Contract Owner" for a selection of licensees.
" Liaises with international team on product strategy for global contracts.
" Manage and develop Assistant Manager

Product Development:
" Partner with product development to innovate & bring to market compelling new product for categories managed.
" Oversee product development strategy with special focus on quality, sku rationalization, feature/benefit analysis
" Set product strategy and align with Product Development team to ensure timely approval of products which may include: lead meetings; coordinate programs across all categories; review line lists; respond to product development team in the case of OPA submission changes; execute merchandising plans; public relations and advertising coordination.

Retail, Sales and Marketing:
" Support internal initiatives generated by Marketing and Sales Teams.
" Recommends initiatives, providing cost/benefit analysis and an estimate of return on investment.
" In conjunction with Franchise partners, communicate new product initiatives and strategies to the internal retail teams
" Liaise with Sales Trade Marketing team to define account promotional and marketing plans and ensure licensee participation
" Works closely with licensees, retail and creative teams to ensure product lines are strategically thought out and meet retailer needs by distribution channel while maintaining brand quality and character integrity standards.
" Prepares comprehensive/compelling presentations and present to retail/customers as needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

" Bachelor's degree + 5-7 yrs. directly related experience or Masters + 2-3 yrs. experience
" Experience in financial/market analysis and research, retail management, brand/product development and consumer products marketing

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

" Excellent understanding of brand and property positioning, retail business development function, retail distribution and the retail environment.
" Strong relationship building skills, flexible and adaptable; able to collaborate, influence and persuade at all levels of an organization, both internal and external
" Comprehensive knowledge of licensees' production and creative capabilities/limitations
