Legal Assistant Hearing Clerk - Cleveland

The contractor shall provide high quality administrative support to government agency. Services to include scanning, copying, filing, data entry, and other administrative functions necessary to accomplish the tasks. The contractor shall be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Suitable candidates must be able to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.

Services may include:
- Maintenance of legal case files (i.e., record actions, events, exhibits, information and materials related to case hearing or case disposition, and review case records for adherence to agency procedures).
- Completion of case files (i.e., identify and acquire additional information required to perfect the case prior to scheduled hearing or other disposition; compile case information and locate records of case history, including initial filing, reviews and appeals).
- Coordination with appellants or appellants’ representatives (i.e., secure necessary documents and information; provide callers and visitors with information on procedures; prepare routine correspondence, notices and papers on case status, including notices of dismissal, extensions and similar actions; review electronic and hardcopy documents and materials for each completed case to verify adherence to procedural requirements for closing a case).
- Status monitoring (i.e., monitor hearing schedules and case management system; track case development to verify that case milestones are progressing as planned; participate in processes to identify legal and office procedures and work flow patterns that can be improved; note slippages and coordinate with field office staff to ascertain status of pre-hearing activities; identify deficiencies, track and acquire necessary materials, record information and verify adequacy of records before closing a case).
- Hearing support (i.e., make all support arrangements necessary to carry out scheduled hearings; verify scheduling arrangements with appellant, appellant’s representative and other parties to the case as necessary; arrange for and set up hearing room in accordance with hearing protocols and preferences of the presiding Administrative Law Judge; arrange for equipment, video teleconferencing technology or other equipment required for a particular hearing; ensure that recording equipment operates properly during the hearing; make travel arrangements for hearing staff; take hearing notes, summarize events, record significant issues and points made during hearing proceedings; arrange for hearing transcript as required; assure all pertinent data on hearing proceedings and outcomes are entered in case records).
Suitable candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
