Lead Visual Designer

This top fortune 500 company, that specializes in tax software, (located in San Diego, Ca) is looking for a contractor to lead the Experience Design (XD) team. This is a 3-4 month contract, will the potential to extend, and you will be responsible for leading the XD team in process and prioritization to align the delivery of high quality design work to the most important product areas. Salary up to $57.32/hr DOE.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with and support XD team in delivering high quality designs; act as a bridge between the XD team and the Development and Product Management teams, connecting all groups and making sure inter-dependencies are understood and planned for effectively.
Identify team needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc.
Implement or drive required changes to make sure designers are working at optimum efficiency.
Lead or collaborate with XD team leadership in key project decision-making, including: requirements gathering, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of teams and approval processes.
Bring all the critical pieces together – strategy, business goals, design, execution, technology, and customer needs – to produce amazing experiences for multiple platforms.
Establish project timelines and tasks and manage large offline projects through all phases of implementation.
Define and create process to receive design requests and prioritize them.
Own the product lifecycle from requirements gathering through production and release.
Interface with internal business partners throughout various departments.
Field incoming project requests and define projects for the Experience Design team (specifically visual design and prototyping teams.
Conduct kick-off meetings and define and communicate project schedules before handing off production tasks to the team.

Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience designing for the web, e-commerce, mobile and/or software products
Possesses a portfolio of solid examples of design work
Highly proficient in using Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
Able to manage multiple projects at the same time
Able to understand the different design requirements when moving from different devices (ie. mobile, touch)
Visual design goals and principles; input to delight goals
Visual design process, schedule, milestones
Mood boards and inspirational representations Delivers: Design phase
Multiple concepts and iterations, with special focus on:
Overall layout and visual hierarchy
Color, brand and typography
Iconography, photography, motion and rich media
Visual representations of processes
Presentations for communicating any of the above Deliver phase
Contributions to a visual design library
Visual design style guidelines and assets (e.g. CSS, Word docs, .PNGs)
Assurance that delivery matches specs (e.g. identifying deviations, owning visual design bugs)
Appropriate trade-off recommendations
