AQUENT is partnering with a REALLY AMAZING Client to help them build a UX Team.

This client believes Small Businesses are the heart and soul of what drives our communities and economy forward through their passion and dedication to their work and customers. This isn’t a phony platitude written by their PR dept., they believe it in their souls. Because of this belief, they are hell-bent on reinventing the way Small Businesses build their business.

Their Small Business Design Group is relatively new to this client so they don’t shy away from challenging the status quo of process, policy, and the sacred cows inherent in a lot of institutions.

The role of Lead User Researcher is to be the heart and soul of everything the team creates for their customer. You are the engine room fueling insights, which will enable this team to create the best work of your lives in service of the needs of your small business customers. To be seen as a leader you will need to be: experimental, disciplined, scrappy, fluid, and demanding.

The challenge for you— bring a disciplined approach to creativity & execution through a user centered design process — ensuring our customers are at the center of everything you and the team do. This is a company waking up to the power of Design — you’ll be one of the lead “ice breakers” showing the way forward through customer empathy, prototyping and experimentation.

You’ll report to the VP of Design who has 25+ years of experience in design leadership, mentorship, and culture change. If your next move is about growing your career, this is the place and the time.

- Lead and execute contextual inquiries, Lean UX experiments, co-design sessions, and usability tests
- Drive the team to standardize its approach to insights development, empathy methods, benchmark analysis, and usability testing and facilitate communication with design and product teams
- Lead user observations to assist with the creation of insights, design principles, user personas, user stories and use cases.
- Actively monitor and analyze research, data, and trends from internal sources, academic research, and industry published reports to inform and improve our research methods
- Influence the iteration of designs by pinpointing key data points from testing, reviews, etc.
- Present and communicate research and analysis clearly and effectively across various organizations in any format required.
- Leverage analytics tools and techniques to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making and prioritization

- Craft: You are able to develop a complete research plan and execute with painstaking detail
- Influence: The ability to communicate research findings in a manner, which mobilizes a team to action
- Adaptability: You are able to swiftly move between varieties of methods to answer the problem at hand
- Facilitation: The ability to understand the needs of the business, translate them,


Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 3 years of user experience research within teams delivering product/services to market

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- 5 years of user experience research within teams delivering product/services to market
- 2 years of experience with Human Computer Interaction
- 2 years of experience with Human Factors
