Lead UX Designer (part-time)

Aquent Studios seeks a hands-on part-time UX Designer to take the lead on a self-service portal for healthcare professionals. Our client, a large pharmaceutical company, is migrating this portal from its initial development phase to one where it must rapidly prove its value as: 1) a customer acquisition, conversion & retention engine, 2) a provider of relevant customer information and support and 3) a differentiated driver of customer trust and value, and business revenue. This portal is accelerating its geographic roll out from the US & Spain to at least a dozen additional markets by end of 2014.

This is an excellent role for a designer who thrives working independently, even remotely (with some on-site meetings required), and can multi-task with the best of them. We need a self-starter and a leader! Because of the independent nature of the position, the designer needs to exhibit and maintain strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills at all stages of the project, and across many levels of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide design leadership to ensure the best user experience by working with creative, usability, technical and business partners
  • Define portal design features, value proposition, user flows, personas and stories, including profile, social features, engagement touch points and content integration
  • Evolve and implement portal engagement strategy
  • Create functional prototypes in HTML,JavaScript, CSS
  • Represent the voice of the customer, acting as a liaison between business partners and technology teams
  • Engage in competitive analysis and market research to cultivate user insight
  • Act as subject matter expert in user-centered design and research, web-based information architecture and design, and agile/scrum methodology

    Qualifications Desired
    • 5+ years of proven experience in all aspects of user centered design
    • Pharma background desired, but experience with other regulated industries will be considered
    • Experience with portal design
    • Experience defining feature and spec requirements and standards for interactive experiences
    • Ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences
    • Resourceful and creative, turning obstacles into opportunities
    • Highly organized, results-oriented, deadline-drive
    • Solid HTML, JavaScript, CSS skills
    • Proficiency creating design deliverables using standard tools, including
    • Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Dreamweaver, and Visio
