Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Testing Analyst

Our client company, located near Nashville, TN, has a 6+month contract opportunity for a Lead QA Testing Analyst. You will be a W2, hourly employee of Aquent during this time.

Our client needs a technically proficient person who plays the roles of lead and/or individual contributor for multiple simultaneous projects, from a QA perspective, in Agile Development and/or Waterfall development methodologies. You will perform significantly complex testing of software applications under minimal supervision and make appropriate decisions regarding QA strategies and direction at a project level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading the testing activities over multiple projects.

Plays the role in QA equivalent of a Development Architect.

Designs QA test strategies and ensures uniformity and adherence to QA practice principles.

As individual contributor, analyzes, plans and performs testing in an Agile development
environment; understands and adapts to minimal and dynamic nature of requirements and application design.

Uses Automated tools for testing including using scripting tools to test application components that do not yet have UI layers.

Specifies and coordinates the creation and maintenance of relevant test environments and infrastructure.

Designs, develops and executes software test plans for assigned area or application(s).

Develops, maintains and upgrades manual test scripts, utilities, simulators, data sets and other automated test tools required to execute test plans.

Effectively communicates testing activities and findings in oral and written forms.

Controls and manages daily test activities for assigned area or application(s).

Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures; evaluates current ones and suggests/promotes improvements.

Identifies risks and develops mitigation strategies.

Coordinates project planning efforts with other areas or cost centers affected by work unit projects.

Coordinates fail-over testing when new or major changes are made to an infrastructure.

Evaluates, Administers and controls test tools; influences procurement decisions.

Organizes and maintains the test script library for assigned area or application(s).

May mentor or train other Test Analysts in processes, methods, tools and best practices.

- Must have leadership qualities to earn the respect of team members and be an "influencer."
- Be able to lead multiple projects simultaneously and provide guidance as required to team members.
- Can help shape the product design by recommending best industry quality practices.
- Is proactive in dealing with situations takes charge and is result-oriented.
- Experienced in Agile development methodology in the .Net development environment.
- Be able to engage with development team in design sessions and shape/extract acceptance criteria and test scenarios.
- Technically proficient - programming background required (any language acceptable; but C, C++, Java, or C# preferred).
- Must understand web configuration files, architectural concepts in .Net.
- Must understand the technical concepts of APIs, Services, IIS hosting, Point of Sale devices.
- Understand databases and be able to write complex SQL queries.
- Can develop complex data testing scenarios and matrices (Knowledge of PCI standards is a plus).
- Working knowledge in one of the scripting languages - Python, Ruby, Perl is highly preferred.
- Automation using Selenium IDE or Webdriver is a plus.
- TFS (Team Foundation Server) working knowledge is required.
- MS Test Manager 2010 working knowledge is highly preferred.
- Domain knowledge/experience of the Payments Industry (practices, players, regulations) is a plus.
- Must be knowledgeable in the QA Industry best practices and aware of cutting edge tools and technologies.
- Must be a quick and sharp thinker and be creative enough to react to the dynamic nature of Agile development.
- Need to be self-motivated and driven; someone who is process oriented and always looking for improvement.
- Should have an eye for detail and be able to work under pressure.
- Excellent analytical skills with an EXPERT level proficiency in QA practice - creating/maintaining test plans, creating test harnesses, scripts; executing scripts and reporting.
