One of our Fortune 500 Clients and Big Four Consulting Companies has an immediate need for a Sr. Publications Designer/Manager to manage their Prestigious Quarterly flagship publication for the world’s leading management consulting firm. The Quarterly has been shaping the senior-management agenda since 1964. Quarterly content is distributed in a print publication that reaches the world’s most senior executives and also digitally and through social media mediums.

Role description
The Lead Designer works collaboratively with the rest of the Design team, the Publishing team, and with Communications/Publishing colleagues to create and maintain outstanding print and digital products. This is a hands-on role, responsibilities include: developing design solutions from high-level ideas to detailed graphical layouts and supporting the Firm’s ongoing digital and print publishing programs.
Reporting to the Design Director, the Lead Designer is part of the Publishing design team. Ensuring that all communications and publications are best in class for readers/users and meet the needs of internal stakeholders. As such, the Lead Designer will have the stature and communication skills to assert themselves as an authoritative voice within the team.
The individual will be able to manage multiple projects independently and efficiently. She/he will need to develop and maintain accurate schedules, and timelines for delivering products of the highest quality, matching the standards of excellence expected of the Firm.

Responsibilities
■ Lead the day to day design development and production of the print publication. Capable of personally taking a large print project from initial concept to final printed material.
■ Work with content owners and Editors and partner with Data Visualization Editors to source, create and develop highly effective visual communications that move seamlessly from print to digital
■ Show strong empathy for the editorial content and conceive and develop original concepts to visually communicate the content
■ Provide thought leadership and hands-on execution across a diverse range of communication types including print, e-publications, web and social media
■ Create engaging brand experiences while upholding the highest standards of clarity and usability of print and digital products
■ Support colleagues in production roles with design documentation, graphical assets and appropriate guidance
■ Be up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies, and advocate for their adoption to meet the Firm’s communications goals
■ Go beyond the basic brief to design beautiful, inspiring, branded communications

Required Skills and Experience
■ Detailed understanding of print production management, print buying, negotiation with printers and artists, editing, pre-press, and 4 color printing
■ Expert in page layout and typography
■ Experience visually presenting data, high level of comfort communicating effectively using graphs and charts
■ Experience working within a large, global brand system
■ Able to take ownership of, prioritize, and manage multiple work streams
■ Formal Graphic Design qualification
■ Excellent written and oral communication skills
■ Highly efficient, organized, and detail oriented with pixel perfect attention to detail

Required Technical Expertise
■ Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
■ Comfort with Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
■ Basic knowledge of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets
■ Familiarity with project-management best practice
