Lead Financial Copywriter

Our financial services client located in the Back Bay is seeking Lead Writer for a long-term contract.

As part of an in-house Corporate Marketing team, the Lead Writer develops content and manages marketing writing projects primarily for the firm’s global retail mutual fund and institutional business lines. Working with his/her Corporate Marketing design partners, the Lead Writer also brainstorms and executes creative concepts for various marketing initiatives and major campaigns.
Principal responsibilities
· Clearly communicates the clients’ expertise, with conviction and differentiation, to financial advisors in the US Retail market, fund research analysts in the Offshore Retail market, analysts and diligence teams in the Professional Buyer market, financial advisors in the Retirement Plan market, and consultants and clients in the Global Institutional market.
· Develops concise, compelling copy for a wide variety of marketing projects such as sales ideas, e-mail campaigns, marketing collateral, Web content, Webcast promotions, video scripts/storyboards, ads and internal communications
· Has and applies proven writing expertise across the firm’s digital properties, social platforms and media types
· Delivers engaging content for retail and institutional businesses around the globe, writes to the relevant marketplace and is an integral member of the in-house Corporate Marketing team
· Turns understanding of product/subject matter into tight, benefit-driven messages that address client needs and showcase our expertise in the area of focus
· Maintains a consistent, accurate voice that reflects the company’s core values, brand and editorial style
· Addresses all changes and suggestions from internal department reviews, marketing partners and legal and compliance reviewers
· Presents and explains the creative strategy behind major marketing campaigns in formal and informal meetings
· Collaborates with MarCom peers and distribution colleagues from Sales, Marketing, Product, and Relationship Management
· Cultivates rapport and proactively partners with Compliance, Product, Data and other key internal/support teams
· Understands investment performance data, returns, benchmarks, peer group ratings/rankings; interprets research that supports marketing ideas; illustrates complex financial concepts through engaging visuals and copy
· Demonstrates understanding of and creates content optimized for Search Engine Marketing & Search Engine Optimization standards

Desired skills and experience
1. BA/BS in English, Finance, Communications or Marketing. Advanced business degree or financial designations preferred
2. Minimum of eight years of professional writing experience, including at least five years of marketing writing experience in an investment management company or an agency serving the investment industry
3. Exceptional writing skills and demonstrated proficiency writing for a variety of audiences with proven expertise writing for digital media
4. Understanding of investments, markets and economic trends; ability to explain complex financial concepts
5. Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and convey credibility when working with investment professionals
6. Ability to work well under pressure on multiple projects while adhering to deadlines
