Lead Communications Consultant (6-12 month contract)

This position is responsible for leading communications projects related to health care reform and other regulatory/government projects; including broad planning, writing and editing communications materials for a variety of internal and external audiences. Will act as team lead when needed for multiple team contributions to a project.

Functions:
Develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders to understand project objectives and deliverables
Develop communications plan for projects and manage deliverables against the plan, including research, development, review and timeline management.

Set project communications scope of work. Effectively manage project within the stated scope of work. Implement and manage Scope Change Control processes and update communication plans, timelines and deliverables based on approved changes. Ensure changes do not expand scope beyond acceptable levels. Adjustment assignments based on scope change and track against time allocated to the project.

Have a working knowledge of tools used by the team, where resources are located and any training necessary to perform at a high level.

Manage reviews and approvals with project leads, business leads, legal counsel and marketing communications leadership as needed.

Operate at a high level of professionalism, including self-managing work time and space, interaction with colleagues and clients, deadlines and deliverables.

REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidates will have 10+ years generalist communications experience, with particular experience in insurance, health care or related industries. Requires a college degree, preferably in journalism, PR, marketing communications or business communications; and excellent writing samples from a corporate environment.
