LAYOUT ARTIST – contract position

We are seeking a highly creative and motivated Layout Artist. In this position, you will be expected to help define and realize our cinematic vision by creating a sequence of shots that help convey story and ideas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with Art Director and Cinematics Team to establish camera composition & movement, character blocking and shot edits as part of our pre-visualization process.
• Technical layout and setup of shots in Unreal and Maya for cinematic team to work with.
• Tell stories and convey emotions through cinematic cameras. Work with tonal variety including humorous, action, and serious emotional scenes.
• Work with pacing and shot direction represented in storyboards and script but bring creative solutions to strengthen our scenes.
• Create seamless transitions between game play and cinematics.
• Camera polish and editing post-animation.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have 3-5+ years of experience in video games, film/television or equivalent.
• Art-related degree and/or comparable professional experience.
• Exceptional visual and technical understanding of cameras, previz, editing, and layouts.
• Excellent understanding of cinematic language, including strong emotional storytelling through staging, composition, and editing.
• Able to offer creative problem-solving ideas to any difficult cinematic sequences.
• Must be able to work in Maya.
• Must be willing to learn, and work in Unreal.
• Animation and/or rigging experience a plus.
• Video editing experience is a plus.
• Open to direction and works well with others.
• Works well with deadlines.
• Self-motivated and directed.
