Junior VFX CGI Artist

The VFX department sits within the Creative team and provides services for many differing media departments and channels. These are often driven by current campaigns, which may require a variety of deliverables from high level commercials and promos to digital and print assets. Additionally the programmes require complex title sequences and on air graphics.

Job title: Junior VFX CGI Artist
Reports to: CG Supervisor, VFX

The team's key tasks:
1. Produce high-quality creative ideas, effects, continuity, identities and events which are always on brand and persuade consumers and staff that the programmes are worth watching and their services are worth paying for
2. To ensure every project runs on time and to budget
3. To ensure that we have the right kit, technology and working environment for people to do their jobs with minimal hassle
4. To strive for the highest possible production values with complete certainty and clarity on budgets
5. To dedicate resource to helping other departments produce excellent briefs which are right first time
6. To create a culture of regular feedback and continuous development
7. To provide business presentations and events which put us in a different league from our competitors
8. To have clear measures of success and hold ourselves accountable to them

The department is structured around four key functions:
1. Creative: coming up with the vision and ideas
2. Production: bringing the vision and ideas to life
3. Campaign Management: running the process from brief through to project; taking responsibility for client feedback and actions; budget management
4. Operations: ensuring everyone has the kit, technology and working environment to do their jobs properly and cost effectively

Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities:
Job Purpose
To create high-end 3D in a fast-paced broadcast environment. To learn all aspects of CG and assist other members of the department in the various productions taking place. A significant part of this job will be learning on the job.

Key Responsibilities:
• Hands-on CGI for individual projects as a generalist, across all aspects of production. Including, but not limited to modelling, previs, animation, simulation, texturing, lighting and rendering using 3D software. A basic understanding of all these areas which can be built on.
• Close collaboration VFX Team.
• Advise on software and hardware and research new technology when required.
• Learning other 3D software as required.
• Learning from other members of the department.
• Accountable and responsible for the quality of project results and self-management.
• Accountable and responsible for personal interactions with all staff and clients.

Essential skills & experience:
Broad knowledge of 3D software of other DCC’s
Basic level of 3D skills.
A willingness to learn new techniques and software.
Basic understanding of Nuke or another compositing package.
Good time management.
