Junior Digital Designer

We are urgently recruiting for a Junior Designer to work for a major gaming company in Reading. In this role, You will be working within the Design team with a team of Producers, you will be responsible for developing a wide variety of promotional designs, building appropriate graphics & experiences for the home page of their platform.

You might have skills as a Production Artist, Designer or Jnr. Designer, if so this role could be for you! You will have a strong interest in media of all shapes and sizes (Games, Music, TV, Film etc) and have some experience of working with timeline animation.

You will ideally have 3-4 years experience within the design field and be looking to make a move into a longer term engagement for a major brand. The role is offered on an initial fixed term contract running until the end of June 2013, with a view to extend beyond that date. They are looking to pay between £25,000 and £30,000 pro-rata + benefits for the right candidate. Key areas of responsibility:

Reporting to the Senior Designer, you will design, develop, execute and optimize production-ready assets for the gaming platform. You will also be responsible for managing (and optimising) the design traffic queue and weekly/monthly view for all in-coming and on-going projects.

• Develop graphics and optimize production art for various promo campaigns: game launches, seasonal promotions, special events, franchise packaging and channel and branding initiatives.
• From time to time, produce assets with timeline based animation tools
• Champion best practices for image selection, editing and optimization for homepage art assets.
• Maintain quality and brand control for all elements created by Design Department
• Maintain the Design team project planner for all in-coming and on-going projects

Experience and Professional Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelors or higher degree in Graphic Design
• Experience working at an interactive/advertising agency, game studio or broadcast design agency or similar
• Expertise in standard design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, CS4/CS5, with specialization in fast paced asset production and optimization
• Flash/ActionScript expertise or other timeline based animation software
• jQuery manipulation or origination
• Proven working knowledge in creating content for multiple audience types, preferably in the entertainment industry
• Design style/sensibilities must be current, forward thinking and audience-aware
• Ability to maintain an organised design production environment: familiarity with asset management best practices
• Demonstrated mastery of typography, image editing, interactive modelling & production
• Experience in planning interactive experiences from concept through production
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
• Understands regional/cultural sensitivities around design executions
