The candidate should be educated to degree level and may have undertaken a placement at a reputable design/creative agency. You should have a strong portfolio of work that demonstrates your design skills. Reporting to the Lead Designer on Unilever and Virgin Trains, the right candidate will be self-motivated and passionate with a desire to learn and develop their skills. You’ll show a keen design eye, with attention to detail and a knowledge of digital trends and industry innovation. You’ll be hungry to work within a team that creates award-winning work and will be willing to push yourself as far as possible in learning new skills and adapting to new situations quickly.
Specific skills / experience required:
Display a good design eye and knowledge of digital design - some experience of print design would also be beneficial.
Support more senior designers and art directors by creating page designs and social content using an established look and feel.
Have the ability to create at least 4 or 5 of the following:
Social Media Content - static and animated content across a range of platforms
Templated emails for both desktop and mobile
Simple HTML pages for a website/app following an existing styleguide
Frame by frame designs and storyboards for gifs and banners
Gifs - design and build
Video & moving image assets in After Effects or Final Cut Pro
DM packs/Press Ads
Duites also include:
Help support the creative team on a pitch, pulling together design territories for concept work and working alongside a more senior designer.
Board up work, make a mock up or create a digital presentation prior to a client meeting.
Search for imagery, video or audio under the art direction of a more senior designer.
Present your work with enthusiasm and clarity to the relevant agency departments.
Attend 'work in progress’ (WIPs) and 'first thoughts’ meetings and work with the creative overseer/brand guardian to ensure all work is of a high standard.
Have a keen eye for detail and great communication skills.
Ensure current client work is kept 'on brand’ by having a thorough knowledge of client guidelines.
Keep up to speed with industry innovations and trends.
Ensure that work is completed within time and budget and flag any issues early on.
Proactively contribute, or otherwise assist where required.
