A Vitamin T client located in downtown Washington, DC is in search of a Social Media Communications Associate. They are a non-profit whose mission is to unlock solutions to tough development challenges that prevent people in low- and middle-income countries from realizing their full potential. They creates real solutions to complex problems by incubating new models to address the unmet needs of the world’s poor. This company brings to bear its depth of expertise, analytical rigor, extensive networks, and implementation experience to work on a broad and ambitious set of development issues -- improving health, governance, and education in poor countries and leveraging global markets for large-scale social gain.

- Support their communications program and work collaboratively to increase the visibility of the organization's brand and reputation.
- Build and strengthen messaging about their mission, strategy, programs and goals.
- Produce dynamic original content including, website content, news articles, newsletters, blog entries and Op-Ed’s.
- Create metrics reports to track outreach and website analytics.
- Assist in the development and design of their branded marketing and collateral materials such as annual reports, publications, fact sheets, road show presentations and media kits which may be requested periodically by donors and stakeholders.
- Help drive the development and dissemination of their publications. Manage relationships with photographers, designers, editors, printers and other vendors.
- Support their social media strategy – including management of the R4D blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr channels. Proactively identify opportunities to profile and cross-promote R4D’s work in relevant social media platforms.
- Monitor media trends and track news clips as they relate to their program portfolio.
- Develop media lists and cultivate relationships with priority journalists.
- Oversee the writing, editing and preparation of reports, presentations, and other outputs.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for the communications team, in addition to, for key meetings, workshops and conferences.
- Support and help execute on the communications priorities of R4D programs, working with project teams.
- Manage their e-mail contact database.
- Track and manage all communications-related expenses.

The ideal talent for this position will possess the following qualifications:
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience preferably at a research institution, government, bilateral or multilateral development agency, consulting firm, NGO, or think tank.
- A demonstrated knowledge of global and international development issues, with an interest in R4D’s mission, programs, strategy and goals.
- Outstanding client management skills (ability to work collaboratively with R4D staff and management at all levels).
- Exceptional persuasive writing, editing, presentation, inter-personal and oral communications skills.
- Knowledge of new media platforms including blogging and social media.
- A keen sense of what makes and shapes the news and international development debates, and the ability to make well-informed decisions to help target the appropriate media outlets, and reporters.
- Strong proficiency in power point.
- Experience with design software InDesign and/or Adobe Photoshop is desired (not required).
- Strong skills working in team as a collaborator, problem solver, and relationship-builder.
- Sense of humor, highly organized, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure with multiple and shifting priorities.
- Ability to multitask in a very fast-paced, often rapidly-changing environment.
- Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Grace under pressure.
