Jr. Production Designer with Strong Editing and Project Mgt

Under the general direction of the Director of Design and Publishing Operations, the person in this position will support the Global Design and Publishing team in the production, coordination, and distribution of BCG's wide range of marketing materials. S/he will do both hands-on page-layout production and complex coordination to ensure the smooth, timely and efficient completion of the production process as needed. Coordination might include communicating with copyeditors, outside design agencies, web team, and consultants.

Basic Function:
Hands-on role requires highly proficient, demonstrated publication and brochure production and design capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing on-going production support for all marketing and communication materials and miscellaneous corporate materials. Responsibilities and duties will include the following:

• Producing accurate, spell-checked galleys throughout the editing process as needed
• Converting final artwork and InDesign files to word docs and jpgs for online team
• Extremely proficient with both Mac and PC platforms, as well as a variety of applications including but not limited to InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or HTML5 (BASIC CODING), Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.
• Assisting in image searches for publication and web use
• Creating properly branded and formatted web banners, ads and special projects on request
• Preparing final files for web use: such as infographics, banners, etc.
• Serving as a back-up proofreader

Additional responsibilities include:
• Supporting the Global Design and Publishing team including corporate identity program and communicating guidelines upon need.
• Supporting eBook publications: proofing and troubleshooting ePub, mobi, and iBook formats.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and two to four years related work experience in related role or field.

Desired Qualifications:

• Have a Bachelor's degree with two to four years of experience in a production related position or in a similar publishing environment.
• Be extremely proficient with both Mac and PC platforms, as well as a variety of applications including but not limited to InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or HTML5, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.
• Have excellent typing and proofreading skills.
• Be experienced in page layout, the use of fonts, colors, and formats, especially as they relate to BCG's global corporate identity.
• Be highly detail-oriented, responsive, and able to meet deadlines.
• Be able to work on multiple tasks with both long-term and short-term response requirements.
• Be self-motivated and have demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively as part of a diverse and dynamic team of professionals.
• Work well with others in a fast-paced and changing environment.


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
• Reports directly to the Director of Design and Publishing Operations
• Works collaboratively with the Global Design and Publishing team to assist with the production of high quality publications, brochures, and assorted collateral.

• Supporting eBook publications: proofing and troubleshooting ePub, mobi, and iBook formats.
