Jr.-Mid Level Events Marketing Specialist

Looking for a Jr. Events Marketing Specialist that is hungry, energetic, and has a high aptitude to learn new things.

Our client is a non-profit that helps promote equal opportunities for career advancement for women in the science, technology, and engineering fields. They host 30-40 events per year, and this person would not only spearhead the organization and execution of the events, but they also will have a key role in helping drive attendance and membership.

Our client promotes professional growth and development of women executives and rising managers in science and technology by providing unique educational and motivational programs, peer-to-peer mentoring, and networking opportunities to build business connections. Their mission is to offer a forum that both supports women currently serving in executive roles and nurtures the next generation of executives in these sectors.

Position Overview:
The Program Director is responsible for the development of strategy and execution of programs designed to engage and provide value to senior executives and members. This person ensures all programs and events meet overall strategic goals; are planned, promoted and administered to produce a successful learning and networking experience; and, achieve their financial targets. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. This position requires a high level of initiative, good judgment, professionalism, creativity and leadership, as well as the ability to contribute to and effectively execute to a 3-5 year strategic plan. Qualifications and Competency Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience in development and execution of successful programs and events, preferably in a nonprofit organization
Fundraiser– Demonstrated success in business development or sales
Strategic planning – experience developing program strategy to achieve organizational goals
Demonstrated ability to manage programs, complex projects, and people; skilled at building effective teams to get things done, especially across volunteer networks
Communicator – Exceptional oral and written communication skills; effective in influencing, motivating and advocacy; strong relationship building experience; ability/comfort in speaking in front of large groups
Financial acumen – experience in developing and managing a program budget; previous experience with P&L budget responsibility
Highly organized, team player who thrives in a fact paced, multi-tasking environment
Creative problem solver with a can do attitude; demonstrated ability to show initiative and to be a self-motivated, innovative, and independent thinker.
Excellent interpersonal skills across a range of contacts including high-level executives, speakers, members, vendors, staff, and volunteers. Includes effectively employing tact, integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy and flexibility.
Excellent demonstrated PC-computer skills and well versed with a variety of software programs for word processing, spreadsheets and database management.
Previous marketing/PR experience a plus
Understanding of and experience with San Diego’s science and technology industries a plus
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday. Programs, events and meetings may require early morning, evening, or weekend hours in addition or in place of regular work hours. March-April 2016 start date is anticipated.
