Jr Data Analyst

The candidate will be part of the Sales and Marketing Commercial Operations team at DIRECTV. This team supports the

Commercial Sales business segment and its customer retention goals and objectives. The DIRECTV Commercial business

segment includes: hotels, restaurants, bars, private offices and small business. Common tasks involve building recurring

reports, supporting custom billing and incentive compensation processing, issue tracking and resolution, documentation of

processes and procedures, and support of strategic and tactical project initiatives. The position is cross-functional in nature

and requires close coordination with other key DIRECTV departments, including: IT, Call Centers, Finance, Dealer

Compensation, and Supplier Payments.

Qualified candidates must have a proven ability to grasp business and computer concepts and apply what is learned quickly.

Must be able to follow detailed verbal and written instructions, but able to clarify ambiguity or escalate concerns when

needed. Must demonstrate assertiveness and common sense when analyzing requests, and work effectively with other

teams to accomplish deliverables.


• Process and manage requests from stakeholders through Salesforce CRM case queues.

• Create and format Commercial Business reports using Cognos, SAS, Excel, and Access applications; utilize pivot tables,

queries, complex formulas and macro functionality.

• Execute mass updates to customer account data inclusive of adjustments and billing transactions.

• Perform reconciliation of historical sales or billing data; determine exceptions, issues or trends.

• Work closely with the Project Management team to implement solutions that adhere to operational standards. Track

and ensure action items for projects are delivered within expected timeframes.

• Evaluate proposed solutions or processes for associated risks; advocate mitigation to such risks.

• Manage multiple tasks with varying priorities and expected completion dates.

• Identify, research, and bring to resolution to issues impacting the business or customer experience.

• Provide status updates and escalation to management and business units.


• Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years relevant experience (Business Analyst, Operations, Finance, IT Support, etc.)


• Strong analytical skills, including working with qualitative and quantitative data. Technical aptitude is required.

• Must be a self-starter and detailed oriented.

• Ability to accommodate change and adapt accordingly.

• Excellent communication skills, ability to tailor communication to audience to achieve desired results.

• Experience with public speaking and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated critical thinking and logical problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work on a team and share ideas and knowledge is required.

• Ability to effectively operate within diverse and cross-functional groups.

• Proficiency in standard MS Office applications.

o Experience with Macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) preferred.

• Knowledge and experience with MS Access SQL or alternate Relational Database (Oracle/Teradata/MS SQL) preferred.
