CONTRACT: Full-Time | Mon-Fri | 6+ Months
PAY: $34-$40/hr (Based on Experience)

A FORTUNE 500 RETAIL COMPANY IS IN NEED OF A JAPANESE COPYWRITER ASAP! MUST BE FLUENT IN JAPANESE AND ENGLISH (BOTH VERBAL AND WRITTEN)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Written and verbal command of native Japanese and, preferably, has lived in and/or spent extensive time in Japan
• Experience serving as a Japanese translator and/or translation reviewer
• Excellent command of the English language and grammar
• Composes, proofreads, and self-edits marketing copy in Japanese that clearly communicates message
• Ability to adapt writing to the brand voice and translate concepts and nuances of US marketing messages into Japanese. Understand cultural differences, meaning and context discrepancies, etc.
• Work with marketing, and merchandising business partners
• Collaborate with designers to ensure that copy communicates effectively within a layout
• Be able to work as part of a team or independently
• Meet project deadlines and participate in meetings as required
• Ensure that copy has stylistic sign-off and legal approvals before releasing
• Adapt to the needs of our online customer and review content from the customer’s perspective
• Provide same-day translation for urgent requests
• Ability to interact productively and communicate effectively with team members

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong and flexible writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines
• Knowledge and strong interest in Japanese culture, events, holidays, etc. On the pulse of trends, competitors, and movements in the marketplace
• Proficient in Microsoft Word. Working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Internet programs, issues, and protocols (preferred)
• B.A. in English, creative writing, journalism, or related field
• Three to five years of professional writing experience, preferably in an online or direct-communications environment. Fashion retail experience preferred
