Investment Trust Marketing Manager - 5 month contract

This client's Global Marketing Communications Group (GMC) is the central marketing and communications function with over 400 people across the globe in EMEA, US and Asia. GMC is dedicated to providing powerful marketing and communications campaigns and solutions guided by business priorities for the Retail, Institutional and iShares businesses. GMC partners with Client Businesses, Investments, and Strategic Product Management to set and deliver relevant and impactful marketing strategies appropriate for each market and client base. GMC includes country marketing departments working closely with central marketing teams such as events, digital, advertising, investment communications, web development, multi-media solutions and creative services.

The UK Retail Marketing team, a central part of GMC, based in London, is responsible for all marketing and communication activities within the UK. The department consists of five including the Head of UK Retail Marketing and two channel marketing managers who set the strategic marketing direction for their respective channels. It is their the responsibility with the rest of this team to manage and implement campaigns effectively for their brand capabilities and products, maintain budgets and use metrics to measure the return on investment and evolve future activity.

Role description:
The Investment Trust Marketing Manager will be responsible for specifically developing and implementing the marketing strategy for a range of investment trusts as well as each individual trust. The individual will work closely with the Head of UK Retail Marketing and the Head of Investment Trusts to establish priorities and messaging across the range of investment trusts. This role will be responsible for planning, co-ordinating and implementing marketing activities across the complete range of marketing disciplines including advertising, events, literature, bespoke tactical campaigns, digital, direct marketing and client communications.

- Support and help drive the investment trust business by researching, planning, executing and tracking through-the-line marketing campaigns to build the profile and raise brand awareness of the diverse investment trust range.
- Develop, drive and communicate the strategy for investment trusts. Creating specific trust marketing plans and tactical marketing campaigns for each trust aimed at discretionary clients and working closely with the advisory marketing manager to tailor such activity for the IFA audience, utilising relationships with Nationals and Networks
- Facilitate all aspects of budget management; manage the total budget set aside for investment trust marketing activity and allocate trust-specific expenditure for marketing activity related to promoting individual Trusts.
- Deliver the marketing content for events, co-marketing, product launches, tactical promotions, advertising and online executions and collaborate with other departments, including investment communications, direct and digital marketing team and the value-add team to coordinate the dissemination of related market insight, value-add, educational and product content through appropriate distribution channels.
- Generate creative ideas and innovative marketing executions and deliver new ways of promoting the investment trust range, our capabilities and educational capabilities to clients.
- Develop a deep knowledge of the investment trust range, its competitors, their products, industry and markets. Applying this knowledge to marketing campaigns and tactically aligning messaging with timely marketplace opportunities.
- Interact with multiple senior stakeholders within the business, including the investment trust team, building strong working relationships with sales, sales support, product specialists, trust managers, marketing communication teams, internal and external PR agencies and compliance to manage projects from beginning to end.
- Report on efficiency and effectiveness of the marketing programmes both internally and to each investment trust’s Board of Directors.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skill sets, proven ability and confidence in presenting material at a high level
- Strong understanding of the investment trusts and the investment trust market place
- Strong investment knowledge (IMC)
- VP level with proven experience working in financial services, preferable in asset management, banking or wealth management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple, determined stakeholders and effectively integrate input while maintaining project schedules
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment – someone who is collaborative, flexible and adaptable, reliable with a strong ‘can do attitude’
- Ability to liaise with management of all levels to drive and communicate strategy
- Able to operate in a fast-paced environment with flexibility in regards to changes in strategy and project plans
- Strong project management skills, including an ability to move projects forward in a complex environment
- Creative thinker able to deliver messages in an innovative and engaging manner
