Internal Communications Writer

One of our valued Fortune 500 financial service industry clients in NYC is in need of a freelance Communications Consultant/Writer. This is onsite, 40 hours a week, pay rate: $40hr.

Responsibilities:
• Strategic consultation to craft communication plans; provide guidance on effective messaging; and identify useful and efficient solutions to emerging issues
• Expand range, depth, and effectiveness of content and messaging to elevate awareness and understanding of Bank and Group priorities, key business issues, and emerging developments
• Contribute to dynamic, approachable, and effective Group-level communication
• Partner with all functional areas and the Group’s business partners, including Human Resources, Training, Ethics and Communications, to develop, write, edit and publish content on the Group’s dedicated intranet site. Identify opportunities for improvements and ongoing enhancements to the site.
• Assist management in crisis communications when needed
• Provide direction and guidance on the development of on-boarding tools and other educational resources to elevate the understanding of the Group
• Develop targeted guidance and coach/counsel department managers to improve communication outcomes
• Elevate usability of core products to meet evolving business area needs and to support the Group’s communication strategy. Enhance and optimize use of video, new media, internet, and emerging technologies
• Assess Group needs/gaps/priorities, identify industry best practices, benchmark our products/processes/services against them, determine high priority deliverables
• Work collaboratively both within department and with the Bank’s wider communications team on ad hoc projects/deliverables

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of writing and editing experience in a corporate environment for a diverse target audience. Some financial services experience preferred;
• Proven relationship management skills demonstrated by experience partnering with senior business clients and an understanding of the strategic business imperatives that drive their messaging;
• Highly skilled writer, editor, and interviewer with experience writing different types of articles for the web in a variety of formats utilizing images to bring stories to life and draw in readers (e.g. photos, videos and other images);
• Proven content management and editorial skills including the ability to create content in a dynamic and deadline driven environment;
• Experience writing speeches and speaking notes for senior leaders
• Background collaborating closely with a senior leader to manage day to day messaging and communication within their business area
• Proven relationship management skills including ability to anticipate communications needs and manage crisis communications;
• Comfortable working with shifting priorities and varied stakeholders;
• Creative and resourceful; with experience finding fresh, compelling and bold ways to present information;
• Experience in creating, launching, and sustaining new programs and initiatives;
