Internal Communications Specialist

Our client, a large government contractor is in need of an experienced Internal Communications Specialist. The specialist supports a range of communications activities focused on the growth of U.S. business. The Communications Specialist will work with communications team colleagues as well as business unit and indirect support teams to create content and execute communications activities that help drive employee awareness and engagement.

Duties:
The Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for the creation and execution of internal employee communications campaigns. As such, the Specialist is accountable for the development and management of communications channels such as newsletters, targeted messaging, executive memos, presentations, and the planning and execution of employee events. This position will also manage U.S. content on the global intranet/networking website, and help develop and execute a strategic vision for the platform while partnering with communications liaisons across the business.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in the communications or a related discipline; five+ years of experience in internal corporate communications
- Demonstrated aptitude for writing and editing for various media, including newsletters, web, presentations, social media and marketing collateral
- Experience or demonstrated aptitude in the development and implementation of internal communications plans and programs
- Excellent verbal communications skills and presence to represent the communications function internally and the company externally to vendors or partners, as needed
- Self-starter who is creative and flexible with experience working in a highly-dynamic environment
- Experience with project management/coordination
- Good sense of basic design principles for presentations and other publications
- Experience working as part of an integrated, cross-functional team, and working in a matrix-based environment
- Ability to manage numerous activities while maintaining attention to detail and positive relationships

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Outlook.

Desired:
- Experience utilizing Microsoft SharePoint to create and manage web content
- Understanding of the information services technology sector
- Web design/development and content management experience
