Interactive Art Director

Aquent’s Portland client is seeking an Interactive Art Director for a 1-year contract. The AD is expected to provide innovative, user-centered, information and visual design work that contributes to an enhanced user experience.

A minimum of 7+ years in designing for web, user interface and interactive
8+ years client side, corporate (or in-house agency) interactive experience
A minimum of 8+ years in brand architecture

Responsible for directing and contributing to a variety of visual design projects across multiple departments, teams, and solution areas from concept to delivery. Creates and executes creative concepts for Web and interactive multimedia. Knowledge of web architecture, online design, multimedia communications and interface design is required.

Strong visual style and a thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color, usability, and information architecture impact design. This role requires hands on design skill as well with a strong understanding of multi-facet media.

Day to day essential functions and responsibilities:
Work with business units and internal clients to ensure service levels are meeting business needs, and identify future business needs

Art Director works closely with the Creative Lead to provide the best-integrated creative communication that best serves the purpose of the business needs.

Lead client discovery sessions through contributing ideas, designing artwork and assisting in defining sponsor and user-centric requirements

Architect complex content and information systems into use cases, site maps, wireframes, screen flow and work flow models

Produce lightweight functional specifications, design specs and guidelines

With guidance from Creative Lead, lead the creative team in developing creative concepts, execution and implementation

Conceptualize, plans and designs, and produce a wide range of specialized graphic and/or illustrative material in support of branding and creative visual communication on multi-media platform

Oversee and often contribute to the development of visual UI mock-ups/comps and interactive prototypes

Work on multiple projects simultaneously with an ability to utilize a wide range of media development

Produce accurate and high quality work with a great attention to detail

Assist Creative Lead in concept/mock-up presentations

Work with creative team to create online/print layout templates, color palettes, typography and user interface elements, style guides as well as HTML/CSS template builds

Evaluate and recommend solutions based on user feedback and business strategy

Work with project manager to manage workflow, team assignments and deadlines on multiple, simultaneous projects

Creation, management and approval of print & web production schedules, estimates, invoices and internal budgets

This person will be responsible for the overall growth and strategic direction of sites, developing and managing a comprehensive traditional and new media marketing strategy, promotional plan, design development and implementation.

The Art Director will fulfill the following requirements and qualifications:
A minimum of 7+ years in designing for web, user interface and interactive
8+ years client side, corporate (or in-house agency) interactive experience
A minimum of 8+ years in brand architecture

Must be proficient and expert with Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, and have working knowledge of HTML/XHTML, Dreamweaver, Web Services/RSS Experience, after effects, director, Final Cut, 3D programs, audio, online video and vignette software.

In depth knowledge in branding, corporate ID, typography, illustration, photography and web color theory.

Strong organization, analytical and negotiating skills
6+ years people management experience

6-8 years of print/online production experience, extensive working knowledge of graphic design technology

A minimum of 8+ years utilizing technical, multimedia skills using proficient web application tools

A minimum 7+ years of proven project management experience leading print/multimedia design projects, with strong communication skills to direct internal teams and external vendors to ensure outcomes consistent with marketing goals and objectives.

Creative problem-solving and analytical decision-making abilities essential Ability to independently coordinate and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines

Excellent written, oral & proofreading skills.

Self-motivated, independent team player that strives for excellence Please provide online portfolio to be considered.

College degree of BFA/BA in art, design communication, BA in journalism, English or any related field
