Interaction Designer

The Interaction Designer is responsible for creating wireframes, UI specifications, sitemaps, task flow/analysis, and user scenarios in support of larger product initiatives. They will ensure that the interaction design specifications support business and user needs, create engaging experiences and meet technical requirements. This role requires excellent communication skills with both team members and internal business constituents.

The ideal candidate is comfortable mediating between user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility. A successful Interaction Designer must also be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects.

This position will also contribute to creating high-level interaction design concepts and usability testing efforts. The Interaction Designer works closely with others on the User Experience team, Product Management, and the IT development team to ensure that product meet business objectives, support the brand, and are useful, intuitive and desirable to users. This person must be open to feedback and knows how and when to defend design decisions.

The User Experience department follows user-centered design methods, which incorporate iterative design with rapid usability testing.

Responsibilities
• Work directly with business owners to analyze business goals and requirements and translate them into user interface concepts and solutions
• Create design concepts to communicate high-level design direction and frameworks
• Collaborate with visual designers to refine the interactive experience and produce solutions consistent with the brand
• Present interaction design specification documents to peers as well as business leaders to gain consensus
• Adhere to client interface design standards and industry best practices to maintain consistency and quality across all product experiences
• Contribute to and participate in usability testing, research, reviews and evaluations to identify issues and provide an enhanced user experience
• Translate user and market research findings into design concepts
• Help to foster a culture of innovation and teamwork across departments

Minimum Qualifications
• 2+ years experience creating wireframes, page flows, site maps and related design documentation
• Experience with a user-centered design process for both web and mobile products
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, along with the ability to be a self-starter
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills including excellent written and verbal skills
• Attention to detail and follow-through on completion of tasks
• Excellent time-management, multi-tasking; and the ability to quickly prioritize competing tasks and responsibilities
• Proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop, Omnigraffle and other similar tools for generating design deliverables a plus
• Usability testing experience a plus

• Bachelors degree in Information Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent work experience required; Masters degree a plus
• Consulting experience a plus
