Collaborate with designers and engineers to ensure that design system elements (components, patterns, layouts) incorporate accessibility considerations and clarify additional work needed to assemble components accessibly
Collaborate with UX writer to update and expand a curated collection of self-service UX resources on designing for accessibility
Write and review accessibility labels for key user flows, and update self-service labels educational resources
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Audit design system spec for a11y (including ensuring that new changes to components, patterns, and page types incorporate a11y); update spec pages to call out built-in a11y features and action items for product/feature teams; and identify and help address a11y issues for new components ingested through the component contribution model
Collaborate with UX writer to develop a robust “designing for accessibility” spec (and/or other artifacts and assets) with principles, best practices, examples, and additional resources for UX partner teams
Update and maintain greenlines educational resources for partner teams, consult teams as they create greenlines for their products/features, and create/deliver greenlines as needed for teams migrating to NG2 to unblock GAR 1+
BA/BS degree in Design, HCI, CS, or any other field with relevant practical experiences
2+ years of experience as an interaction designer
Demonstrated experience applying accessible design principles and web accessibility standards
Nice to have Skills (Preferred Skills):
Experience with other aspects of universal design (i.e. responsive design, inclusive design)
Experience building collaborative relationships across geographically distributed teams
Familiarity with user research methods or experience working closely with researchers
Excellent communication skills - clear, direct communication style.
Action / results oriented - ability to make decisions concrete pragmatic interaction design decisions in a timely manner.
Systems thinking - recognizing patterns in UI and generating solutions that work for multiple cases.
Problem-solving approach to design.
Effective time management and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Experience working on digital user interfaces, particularly for enterprise software or similar.
