Interaction Designer

Aquent's client is seeking a well-rounded product designer capable of both systems and visual design. You are comfortable with ambiguity and adept at building products from scratch. You have the ability to balance both business and user needs and can translate ambiguity and complexity into simple user experiences. Above all you must have a passion for the education product space.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Design user experiences and interfaces that support product
Collaborate with researchers, other designers, product managers to review designs and get product alignment.


Create and deliver ENG (Engineering) ready design specs.

Overall Responsibilities:
Develop high level and/or detailed storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
Gauge the usability of new and existing products and making constructive suggestions for change.
Advocate for design excellence by focusing on user needs and design consistency


Required Skills:
BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
3 years work experience as a designer working on shippable products, including for iOS, Android and Web applications
Comprehensive understanding of interaction conventions and aesthetic principles.
Ability to produce low and high fidelity mockups using industry standard software.
Strong understanding of web technologies and best practices for web design.

Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:
Demonstrated experience in designing usable interfaces for popular web-based products
Knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes.
Expert HTML skills.
Strong, clean visual design sense.
Familiarity with user research methods or experience working closely with researchers.
Familiarity with software development processes and lifecycle.
Effective working across ambiguity to produce design concepts and prototypes
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
A collaborative spirit and sense of humor.
