Our top retail client located downtown Minneapolis is looking to hire an Interaction Designer to join their User Experience team.

This team is responsible for web experiences for guests shopping on desktop, tablet and mobile web.

Responsibilities include:

- Working with our Transact (checkout) and Connect (Account Management, fulfillment) product teams, partner with other user experience team members, product managers and engineers to:
o Identify the need for features and functionality for the guests to successfully and seamlessly check out online, manage their orders and other account information, and receive and understand communication about their purchases.
o Rapidly prototype and validate ideas with guests via both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, in partnership with UX Research and our business intelligence team.
o Collaborate with additional user experience team members (leads, UX architects, copywriters) to design and document new features and optimizations to existing features.
- Define and maintain a pattern library of UI and design elements, together with engineers and accessibility, to ensure reusable, proven and tested patterns are documented and socialized to partner teams.
- Bring empathy for our guests by teaching out their challenges and goals to the larger UX team as well as to partnering Product teams.
- Skills in interaction design primarily, with additional aptitude in UX architecture, usability research and front-end development.

Primary Tasks/ Responsibilities
The Interaction Designer on the User Experience team is responsible for defining and documenting systems and interfaces from the perspective of the people who will use those systems.

The candidate will have experience and proven success defining, creating and documenting the visual and interaction design components of intuitive and well-crafted interfaces and digital experiences including websites, mobile applications, kiosks, and touchscreens.

Those design components include all details of visual design (e.g. color, contrast, type, layout), all aspects of interaction design (e.g. animation, touch gestures, system behavior and feedback, affordances, haptic feedback, etc.). This includes responsibility for all technical aspects associated with designing for the full range of devices and interfaces (screen resolutions, device rendering capabilities, limitations and opportunities of relevant front-end development technologies).

The successful candidate will also understand how to incorporate both qualitative and quantitative research into their design process and be able to articulate and defend design decisions using this research as an input and a guide.

The successful candidate must be able to show specific work samples and case studies that show clear, high-quality documentation articulating complex data-driven and user-focused systems.


Minimum Requirements
3–7 Years experience
Must demonstrate excellent and repeatable creative, visual design, interaction design and problem-solving ability
Must work well independently and have the ability to lead projects and initiatives
Must be an exceptional collaborator
Must be able to present well and articulate and defend design decisions with grace and logic
Must show exceptional attention to quality and detail as evidenced by work samples.
