Instructional Designer

Contract with Fortune 500 Tech company in Mountain View!

What You’ll Do:
• Write video scripts and visual guides
• Partner with designers and other writers on the relaunch of our tutorials site, developing curricula that is right for different levels of users
• Transform complex accounting jargon into human language through the use of appropriate voice and tone, and achieving the right balance of friendliness and professionalism
• Possess creative voice and vision: write to editorial principles, brand guidelines, and product positioning
• Collaborate with product managers, researchers, interaction designers, content writers, and developers to optimize for customer needs, business and technical constraints, trade-offs, branding, and legal compliance
• Approach all projects with a focus on communication hierarchy, taking into account visual layout, color, typography, proportion, iconography, photography, motion, rich media, and brand
• Communicate and escalate opportunities, issues or risks as appropriate
• Foster strong sense of team with visual and interaction designers through solicitation of feedback and constructive contributions to design reviews
• Work on multiple projects at one time, using strong communication skills to manage time and expectations appropriately

Qualifications:
• 5+ years’ experience in user-centered instructional design
• Bachelors’ degree required, Masters preferred
• In depth portfolio of writing and editorial work, demonstrating a mastery of language and the ability to simplify complex topics
• Excellent verbal and written skills, including strong working knowledge of grammatical principles and application
