Instructional Designer

Our large Fortune 500 retail client is seeking a talented Instructional Designer! This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to determine specific design focus. Design, develop, and evaluate instructional materials. Typical years experience in field of 3-5 years.
Instructional Designer analyzes the training needs for client-based programs. Works closely with clients to deliver training materials. Designs and develops leadership development or application related training by project using ADDIE methodology. Evaluates and administers alternative training methods and develops standard training materials using various multi-media formats.

Training Management
• Meet deadlines.
• Maintain master training records.
• Track and record hours to for allocation ensure proper accountability.
• Attend client meetings as requested by Program Manger.
• Ensure compliance to the standards and processes

Training Analysis/Evaluation:
• Conduct front-end needs analysis; job/task identification.
• Conduct performance gaps analysis to identify knowledge gaps then apply or recommend an intervention to bridge the gap.
• Select and recommend effective instructional methods per project required
• Partner with Quality Assurance, Team Leads and Trainers to identify training needs by program.
• Evaluate and design alternative training methods
• Work closely with internal clients to create and edit training materials.
• Measure the effectiveness of training.
• Communicate to Program Mangers project status and issues needing resolution.
• Conduct post-project analysis to determine the quality of implementation and provide feedback recommending training interventions.

Design, Development and Implementation:
• Work closely with internal clients to identify scope, objectives, and approach of project.
• Design and develop performance objectives.
• Design and develop facilitator and participant materials
• Use adult learning principles and accelerated learning principles into course design.
• Design realistic practice exercises, role plays, case studies, games and simulations.
• Develop and maintain online reference information.
• Develop and conduct Train the Trainer sessions.
• Develop evaluations that are linked to the performance objectives.
• Develop and maintain process flows and procedures where appropriate.
• Develop templates and forms to support process flows and procedures when required.
• Manage client expectations regarding project

Work Environment and Personnel Development:
• Maintain a positive work environment that fosters team performance.
• Encourage Trainers to participate in training material development.

• Work on activities and/or projects as requested by the Program Manager.
• Act as a backup trainer as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or Instructional Design

• Min. 8 years of professional training and development experience (ILT/eLearning)
• 3 plus years of eLearning course design and development required; workshop and/or webinar facilitation experience strongly preferred

• Strong project management
• Ability to work with all levels of employee and management
• Creativity
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Detail oriented
• Positive attitude
• Strong desktop productivity skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio,
• Flash and Adobe Captivate 5.5 or equivalent a must

• Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously
