Instructional Designer

Our telecommunications client is looking for an Instructional Designer to join the Learning Technology team. This person will support the enterprise content management initiative, which aims to integrate learning content development and delivery across the organization. You will serve as a key member of the project team designing and implementing a successful solution with experts from across the company.

You will also help us create content for our next-generation tablet-based classroom learning. Experience designing training for instructor-led facilitation and self-paced e-learning is essential. You must be passionate about tablets and mobile technology as a vehicle for content consumption and interaction. You will partner with content subject matter experts and our web programmers to convert traditional PDF-based classroom programs into our custom-built HTML learning application.

Key Responsibilities
• Create and maintain authoring storyboard templates used by content subject matter experts
• Work with our E-Learning programmers to translate design requirements into functional learning objects
• Produce and maintain HTML-based learning deliverables based on storyboard designs.
• Strategize about the best way to integrate other applications into our HTML learning solution (i.e., other intranet/Internet sites, resources, tools, etc.)
• Partner with key development teams to complete tasks on the enterprise content management project plan.
• Collaborate with team members in a Scrum/Agile development environment

Qualifications
• 2 year degree
• At least 5 years designing E-Learning or blended learning solutions
• Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including the ability to understand and convey complex technical information in simple terms
• Experience as a classroom trainer or working to convert classroom training into E-Learning
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS 3 and JavaScript.
• Experience implementing and developing content in an enterprise content management system and/or learning content management system.
• Experience managing metadata schemas and content taxonomies.
• Excellent writing skills
• Ability to interpret complex requests & implement based on aggressive timelines
• Ability to work on multiple tasks independently with little direction
• Ability to compare, process, organize and compile information
• Ability to recognize trends and provide relevant solutions
• Experience with MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience with E-Learning authoring applications (Flash, Captivate, etc)
• Familiarity with Scrum development principles
• Experience with a number of content management systems (WordPress)

Bonus Points
• Experience using Markdown text-to-HTML conversion tool
• Experience authoring content for mobile applications
• Knowledge of software development constraints on iOS and Android
• Experience using Basecamp online project management tool
