Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer/Technical Writer designs an effective training strategy and solutions to promote learning and on-the-job performance support. Train branch and field personnel on all aspects of desktop technology, best practices, implementing technology solutions for increased productivity, client service and efficiency. Aligns firm and local objectives and initiatives. Primary point of contact for Field Management for all Technology Platform related training programs

Job Responsibilities:
-Conduct needs assessment and task analysis prior to developing curriculum
-Design training materials, selecting the most effective training methodology to meet the desired objective
-Design documents to provide the overview of planned training programs
-Design training of all forms, including but not limited to e-learning, recorded tips, quick reference cards, reference materials / online manual pages, instructor led training, coaching guides, participant materials, team meetings in a box, self-studies, and training tips.
-Revise and update materials on both a periodic and as-needed basis
-Become a SME on any changes to the technology platform
-Train and support training / facilitators to effectively and efficiently deliver developed curriculum
-Proactively work with business partners and initiative sponsors to write policies and procedures for representatives under tight deadlines.
-Work effectively with other team members or outside contractors to develop curriculum or communications when necessary.

Qualifications/Skills Required
-1-2 years hands-on experience performing detailed business analysis and requirements specifications creation
-1-2 years in financial services settings
-1-2 years with training design including but not limited to manual development, instructor led training, recorded training courses, and quick reference cards
-Advanced knowledge of the instructional design process
-Critical thinking and translation of business needs into technology solutions
-Ability to analyze vague project requests and clarify into specific tasks, next steps and deliverables
-Excellent written/oral communication skills and listening skills
-Full systems development life cycle experience
-Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Access

Background and Knowledge:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field
-1-2 years’ experience within the brokerage or other financial services industry
-Willingness to travel occasionally
