Instructional Designer / Technical Writer

Vitamin T is recruiting for an experienced Instructional Designer / Technical Writer for a long contract need with a global marketing agency located in Troy, MI. Talent must be onsite for this position.

Overview:
This position is responsible for: Designing and writing retail automotive product and sales training -- including eLearning, webinar and classroom courses; Providing project team leadership and subject matter expertise in the development of strategic solutions and implementation of client programs to ensure strong client satisfaction.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Human Performance Improvement (HPI/HPT), Instructional Systems Design (ISD), Technical Writing, Business or related field – (Master’s Degree Preferred)
• 7-10 years minimum related experience
• Automotive industry experience and vehicle/product knowledge required
• Retail Sales and Management Training and/or Commercial Vehicle experience is a plus, including familiarity with:
o Light/medium-duty truck (Class 3-7) terminology and components
o Concepts related to truck spec'ing and selection
o Concepts related to truck towing, hitch types and towing classes
o Commercial Vehicle/Fleet Sales, Service and Finance Programs
• Experience in analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of a range of training and performance improvement solutions/delivery methods, including eLearning and performance support tools
• Knowledge of adult learning principles, human performance technology concepts, instructional and interactive techniques and performance improvement processes
• Ability to design learning and performance strategies, write performance-based instructional objectives, develop recommendations for deliverables and design/develop instructional and performance support materials
• Ability to manage results-oriented projects and communicate effectively
• Experience in planning, leading and monitoring performance improvement and training projects from assessment through design and/or delivery and implementation to ensure instructional integrity and schedule, including appropriate delivery methods/media
• Knowledge of how to prepare design plans that meet Learning Management Systems (LMS) standards and demonstrate an understanding of a “systems approach”
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise statements for varied audiences
• Experience in effectively presenting ISD approach and recommendations to internal and external clients to obtain buy-in
• Resource management including talent assessment and prioritization of work
