Instructional Designer - Part Time

Academic client is seeking an Instructional Designer for immediate and on-going projects at about 23 hours a week. The Instructional Designer will work closely with the Online Education Design team to design and develop online courses. The Instructional Designer will contribute to the development of course content using Online Education Design production technologies, will be responsible for maintaining the semester course maintenance process, and will conduct new course quality assurance testing when needed.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Work with subject matter experts and instructors to write design documentation that will identify course goals and outcomes, method of content presentation, and assessments
• Manage deliverables
• Create storyboards, scripts, and wireframes for development
• Apply industry-standard instructional design practices to design development process
• Design instructional objects and assets in accordance with OED product offering and processes
• Apply evidence-based pedagogical principles to the design of instructional objects and experiences
• Develop multimedia pieces as needed
• Assist with the production of audio and visual course content
• Manage the course migration process including the maintenance of a course migration list each semester
• Conduct quality assurance testing of new and migrated courses

Requirements:
• Master of Arts in the field of Instructional Design or Educational Technologies (In lieu of a degree in related field, practical experience in instructional design will suffice)
• Experience working with a Learning or Content Management System
• Proven experience in developing and supporting courses characterized by innovation in instructional design and multimedia development
• Proven ability to develop instructional applications that are based on pedagogically sound principles and practices
• Familiarity with course production software including Adobe Captivate and Adobe Creative Cloud applications
• Familiarity with basic web design and programming languages such as HTML and CSS
• Highly organized with an ability to effectively prioritize tasks
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Experience with Canvas by Instructure LMS a plus
• Experience with the course development life cycle and/or instructional design a plus
• Experience with audio and video production a plus
• Analytical skills to conduct content analysis and develop recommendations a plus
• Proven ability to write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to various target audiences
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
