Insights Manager

The Insights Manager will be responsible for providing actionable insights through the use of a variety of methods, including custom and syndicated research. The successful candidate will contribute throughout the custom research process including design of the research instrument, developing analytic plans, providing direction to research suppliers, and ensuring timely and high quality deliverables. This position will work closely with research vendors and the Insights Director to ensure successful execution of projects. A Bachelor’s degree is required with an advanced degree preferred along with at least 8-10 years experience in consumer research.

Manages custom qualitative and quantitative research projects, including a brand health tracker with support from Director.
Contribute insights that will guide shopper strategies and tactics and influence key customer relationships.
Supports strategic planning process with insights developed based on in-depth analyses of a variety of sources.
Participates in periodic Insights Review, including building decks and presenting to teams (e.g. Brand, Customer Marketing, New Product Development).
Generates and utilizes syndicated data in analyses including POS, circular tracking, consumer purchases, and shopper practices.
Monitors competitive and customer activity.
Prepares summary presentations on relevant consumer trends.
Proactively identifies knowledge and information gaps and builds learning plan for assigned marketing teams.
Acts as the "advocate for the consumer" and an information resource for marketing partners.
Develops a deep understanding of client products, core consumers and core retail customers including a deep understanding of key drivers and motivations.
Manages online Insights Library and proprietary concept testing normative database.
Provides other support to Director as needed.

A minimum of 8 years in custom quantitative Market Research industry function with supplier or client side experience. Previous experience in consumer products is strongly preferred.

Analytic Skills
High level of knowledge about standard concepts, practices, and procedures within marketing research.
Moderate knowledge of statistics (statistical testing, margin of error) and marketing concepts (brand equity, purchase funnel).
Ability to collect and analyze data using custom research techniques.
Experienced reading and utilizing data tabulations.
Sees direct and unique relationships between known and new information.
Experience with Symphony IRI or Nielsen POS and/or panel service.

Software Aptitude
Experienced with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Explorer.
Previous experience with Nielsen Answers.
Previous experience with Planalytics, Market Track and/or Kantar Retail a plus.

Project Management
Works on a consultative basis with internal clients and formulates approaches to meet insights needs.
Ability and willingness to push back against internal client requests that would jeopardize needed rigor so that results will stand up to fair challenge
Manages multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Organizes and completes multiple projects efficiently and on time.
Interprets what is needed for the success of a project.
Manages research suppliers.

Good team player with strong initiative; a self starter who does not require tasks to be assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in business, consumer research, marketing, psychology or related field. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
