Circa £200 per day

Role Description
One of the largest supermarket retailers is looking for an Insights Manager to work in their Price & Promotions team until March 2012, with a possibility of becoming permanent.
The purpose of the job is to increase the business’ understanding of customer perceptions and expectations of price and promotions and how they change over time. This position also undertakes analysis to increase the business’ understanding of competitor price and promotion strategies and how these change over time. This position delivers this insight through both short term pieces of analysis as well as longer term strategic initiatives.

The position is divided up as follows:

40% analysing aspects of price and promotion activity
30% developing insights from analysis
30% working with the business to develop and deliver these insights

Key responsibilities/accountabilities
• drive and support Insight to develop understanding of price and promotions
• increase understanding of price and promotions (including competitors) through analysis
• make recommendations to the business through analysis on how to deliver The Prices are Good and help to define price and promotion strategy
• analyse competitor advertising/PR to ensure price claims are accurate and challenge through Trading Law if necessary
• keep the business updated on price and promotions through weekly reporting
• undertake forensic analysis of price and promotion at competitor/category/pillar brand/customer level
• facilitate cross functional teams to deliver projects and trials relevant to the development of price and promotion strategies
• help deliver the cost centre budget through efficient management of agencies
• feed back to management ways of reducing cost

Key Skills/ Experience and Qualifications required
• Mathematics or analytical background and experience
• SQL and database skills
• Visual Basic
• Proven strong problem solving capability
• Ability to interpret data, spot trends, draw conclusions and make recommendations
• Project Management experience an advantage

• Agency management
• Marketing excellence
• Evidence of influencing
