Innovation Designer (Manager/Director Level)

A global consumer goods company is looking for Senior Innovation Design (Directors and Managers) to join their Innovations Design team. This is a hands-on design role that will also work with team to lead creative direction (strategy and design).

The Innovation Design Team will help lead the innovation agendas for a portfolio of global brands. This team will need to effectively manage and influence a cross-functional team that includes brand innovation, consumer insights, brand marketing, R&D, and operations to successfully deliver strategically aligned and commercially viable innovation projects.

The design team’s responsibilities include all aspects of the design process, ranging from problem definition, performing and analyzing consumer research, to brainstorming and visualizing ideas. They are fueled by imagination and creativity and like the challenge of creating what has not yet been created. They are also focused on new creation driven through the lens of the company's consumer.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The person in this role will be accountable for supporting the development and delivery of a wide range of innovation projects. S/he will need to help deliver projects from initial ideation, through concept development, to commercialization. The person in this role will work closely with internal and external partners to develop design projects that satisfy unmet consumer needs and the growth of company's portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:
• Partners with R&D, consumer insights, brand managers etc. to develop new design platforms grounded in consumer insights and leverages technology and trends to create new sources of growth
• Provides design leadership around customer trends and testing, customer research, strategic planning, and holistic design principles
• Has a strong capability to identify people’s unmet needs and is able to articulate and deliver that into a design strategy
• Has the ability to visualize new design platforms / products and can effectively leverage design tools (e.g. sketching, prototypes, video etc.) to bring their vision alive
• Can help lead and influence cross-functional teams in the development of new products from ideation, concept development to commercialization
• Can create passion, conviction, and momentum around the right areas of opportunity

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in design, Masters preferred
• 7-10+ years of design strategy and innovation
• Design/Branding Agency experience preferred
• Portfolio must show high level designs and illustration - and thought process from brief to concepts to finals
• Good communicator – able to communicate with a technical organization (e.g. R&D) and a creative marketing organization
• Is a creative problem solver
• Has strong presentation skills
• Ability to work in an ambiguous and dynamic work environment
• Can build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and project leads
