Innovation Community Specialist

Are you a design-driven, detail-oriented innovator with a knack for enabling others to achieve beyond what’s possible?

As Innovation Community Specialist, you will be the go-to liaison and promoter for our internal innovation facilitator community. Innovation facilitators are pushing the envelope of how we develop and manage products at PayPal by coaching teams in customer-focused, design thinking techniques and practices.

• Use multiple channels to engage and build community.
• Define and manage all processes, protocols and best practices for the community.
• Collaborate to create new programs, events and support vehicles.
• Manage, monitor and measure facilitation activities and deliverables portfolio.
• Develop and implement communication vehicles for the larger organization – events, newsletter, website, visible presence on campus (posters, etc).
• Manage the recruitment pipeline and application process for future facilitator cohorts.
• Drive planning of events and training/workshops.

• People skills. You have a natural ability to champion causes and inspire diverse groups across many levels of an organization.
• A way with words, both in person and on paper.
• Tech savvy. Specifically, you know your way around Yammer and WordPress…or you pick up new software tools at lightning speed.
• Attention to detail. You rarely miss an undotted “i” or uncrossed “t”.
• Creativity. People remember your work because of its uniqueness.
• Drive. You take initiative, get things done and motivate others to do the same.
• Experienced. You’ve done this before, can hit the ground running and bring new ideas to our team.
• A desire to learn. You’re eager to stretch your thinking.
• Exposure to and understanding of design thinking, innovation, and creative cultures is a plus!

Additional information:

The Innovation Community Specialist will be working to build a sustainable program for our innovation facilitators. We have some elements of the program built already, we need this person to add events, processes, and marketing vehicles to continue building and evolving our community of innovation facilitators.

The typical work day for this contractor (what are they responsible for):
This person would be responsible for managing the pipeline of innovation projects that our facilitators are involved with, manage the schedule of upcoming events for the facilitator community, manage our internal website that highlights what the facilitators are working on, what workshops we have coming up, follow up with facilitators about their projects and create marketing collateral for the larger community, sharing what the facilitators are working on.

Experience in Design Thinking, innovation in a tech company will help this person succeed in this role.
