Excellent Career Opportunity for an experienced Information Architect to join a growing in-house ecommerce team! The client is looking to hire a key team member (on a contract-to-hire basis) who will be responsible for providing a positive user experience by optimizing the information structure across all eCommerce Properties for this major retailer. OVERVIEW:
The role will be responsible for developing navigation flows, site maps, wireframes, and interface design/functional specs. This role will liaise between the Creative, Technology, Merchandising and Content teams. Must be able to conduct, write and contribute to tasks and deliverables including task analysis, heuristic evaluation, rapid prototyping and development of use cases and business process flows. The Information Architect will work closely with research and design teams to develop an accurate understanding of the target user base and what information they need in order to quickly learn and adopt the application or web site.

Time Allocation:
1. Defining user experience specifications for customers and stakeholder: 30%
2. Perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses. Translate, document and present research findings and recommendations to stakeholder: 25%
3. Develop mockup / prototype interaction designs, including user interaction models, information architecture, wire frames and screen flows: 20%
4. Work with usability team to conduct customer studies of mockups, prototypes and existing interfaces; and iterate designs based on results: 15%
5. Perform validation usability testing to determine whether features and products have met business and customer objectives: 10%

JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Championing user experience and design best practices to stakeholders throughout the organization. Bring design thinking to projects and act as a voice of UX innovation in the product development process.
2. Perform validation usability testing to determine whether features and products have met business and usability objectives
3. Develop innovative strategies to answer research questions with limited resources.
4. Establish and socialize success criteria for projects, ensuring shared vision of the project’s goals and objectives.
5. Effectively communicate user experience and design directions to business teams & executives utilizing personas, prototypes, storyboard and infographics
6. Translate research findings into design recommendations to quickly improve product designs early in the design cycle.
7. Translating concepts and ideas into wireframes, site maps, workflow diagrams, process maps, visual specification, customer journey maps, and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience
8. Define site architecture and navigation that servers as a blueprint for site design and enhancement.

QUALIFCIATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 -7 years experience in Information Design, Library and Information Science, Interaction Designer, HCI, or related field.

• At least 3 years of experience in user interface design, information architecture, usability testing, human factors, and other related disciplines within a consultative or corporate environment preferably with an Internet Retailer Top 500 site. Must have proven track record in concept development/layout, project development, project execution, UI design for consumer and e-commerce web sites.

• Must possess a thorough understanding of ecommerce best practices, website design, UI design, and essential graphic design theory. Best practices will evolve over time and require the individual to stay current.

• Knowledge of solving business and user problems with design. Ability to understand the needs of customers.

• Extensive experience in methodologies for uncovering user needs and product opportunities. A background in ethnography and cognitive science methods is helpful.

• Design fundamentals including information design, visual design, industry UI standards for eCommerce applications, and ease of use best practices.

• Excellent organization, time management and analytical/problem solving skills and interpersonal skills are required.

• Strong communication skills with experience in leading projects from pitch to presentation.

• Expert level proficiency in Photoshop, Visio and Illustrator. Experience working in: Wireframe software (Balsamiq) and Prototyping software (Axure)

• Previous experience with eCommerce Content Management System a plus.

• Understanding of online information architecture and taxonomy standards
