Information Architect

Our well-known global travel industry client is seeking an Information Architect to help them reimagine and bring order to the user experience across a suite of sales tools and content portals.
Their company has grown fast over the past decade, but their information systems haven’t all kept pace, so we need your help to pull things together in a visually and semantically cohesive new experience that serves both end users and internal partners. You’ll help uncover the “why” of their content ecosystem, enabling a cohesive UX strategy that manifests in a new and improved “what.”

On any given day, you will:

  • Apply your natural curiosity and critical-thinking skills to uncover and anticipate IA challenges
  • Work with internal partners to gather insights around use cases, business needs, success metrics, and product interdependencies
  • Partner with in-house data scientists to build conceptual models that inform the design and placement of data visualizations in the product UI
  • Partner with in-house research team to understand user needs (e.g., personas) and test into product outcomes (e.g., card sorts, concept tests)
  • Synthesize research into strategic plans that address users’ pain points and articulate challenges for UX designers and UX writers to solve
  • Develop artifacts (e.g., data-flow diagrams, taxonomies) that orchestrate and bring order to large and complex sets of information — specifically sales and reporting data, data visualizations, and content that runs the gamut from highly structured in legacy systems to barely structured in fledgling CMSes

At a minimum, you should:

  • Have an advanced degree in information technology, engineering, MIS, or related technical disciplines
  • Have a deep understanding of user-centered design and content strategy
  • Be comfortable collaborating with Ph.D.-level researchers to gather insights and develop appropriate test plans
  • Have a body of work, including portfolio and/or case studies, that demonstrates domain expertise.
  • Have strong interpersonal and written communication skills — this role is highly collaborative and requires frequent interaction with customers and internal team members
  • Be comfortable using modern web-production software (Sketch, Adobe CC, G Suite, Omnigraffle, etc.) to articulate your ideas and concepts
  • Have 5 years experience as an Information Architect, Content Strategist, UX Designer/Generalist, or applicable experience
