Our client is a large insurance company with offices in WARWICK, RI. They have asked for our help in identifying an INFORMATION ARCHITECT.

LOCATION- Warwick, RI. The right candidate can work part time from home and part time in the Warwick, RI office.
DURATION- Roughly 6 months and possibly contract to hire
CLEARANCES REQUIRED- interview, criminal background check and drug screen will be performed
SKILLS- Visio/Axure/Balsamiq, Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Microsoft Office, HTML5/PhoneGap built for iOS phones and tablets and Android phones and tablets.

Needs strong Mobile UX skills.

Job Summary:
• Responsible for creating the new or enhanced website navigation, organizational structure, and information design for mobile websites, mobile apps, Internet portals, applications and interfaces,

• Advocate for all users including consumers, customers, producers/agents, customer service, and internal employees,

• Acts as the eBusiness senior-level specialist in the area of information architecture as part of the planning, analysis, usability, and design implementation phases for assigned initiatives and projects,

• Accountable for the creation, presentation and validation of information architecture deliverables: conceptual diagram, content inventory, navigation maps, customer journey maps and wireframes, etc.

Principal Responsibilities:
• Must have senior-level ability to design navigation, labeling, searching and organization systems for mobile and web applications development, to conceptualize information systems design and translate into interface requirements and make information design recommendations based on usability findings and standard user-centered design practices,

• Analyze business requirements and requests for the implementation of new functionality, site updates and maintenance. Evaluate existing sites and make sound recommendations for the creation and evolution of site navigation, functionality, organizational structure, and information design flows to meet user needs,

• Translate strategy, business requirements, competitive analyses, research findings, and usability/design best practices into site information architecture, including user scenarios, content inventory, site maps, detailed navigation flow, and functional wireframes, and web copywriting/editing,

• eBusiness subject matter expert for information architecture best practices contributing to the planning and implementation of assigned initiatives and projects,

• Collaborates closely with internal teams, including eBusiness Consultants and UI Designers, as well as systems and business analysts,

• Internal consulting experience with the ability to present and explain information architecture requirements and deliverables to all levels of the corporate hierarchy,

• Contribute and adhere to eBusiness design patterns and style guides while ensuring the integrity of the MetLife brand. Ability to develop and follow a consistent lexicon, grammatical structure, and copy style established for various websites,

• Contribute to user research and usability testing for validation of proposed user navigation and information design,

• Provide consultation and education to internal eBusiness, as well as partner organizations to further the understanding, application and support of information architecture as an integral part of user-centered design methodology,

• Able to handle multiple responsibilities and guide cross-functional team members, as well as to develop and meet deadlines effectively on medium to large projects,

• Assist in training and developing team members. Lead special team projects/assignments and coordinating efforts of cross-functional teams.

• Act as a mentor and resource to other team members. Demonstrate a global knowledge of eBusiness and all its components.

Required Competencies:
• Must understand and employ a user-centered approach, have an excellent track record designing consumer and producer applications UI; and a strong understanding of mobile and web-based transactional applications,

• Software skills required: Visio/Axure/Balsamiq, Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Microsoft Office

• Strong background in mobile – ideally HTML5/PhoneGap built for iOS phones and tablets and Android phones and tablets.

• Understanding of the benefits and downsides of design integration with both agile and waterfall requirement methodologies and how UX fits into the process

• 5 or more years related experience with website expertise in information architecture, as well as design experience

• BA/BS in Library Science, BFA in Graphic Design, Industrial Design or Digital Media;
