Aquent's client, a large tech company headquartered in Mountain View, CA, is seeking an Industrial Designer for a 6 month assignment at one of their Mountain View locations.
Pay: Up to $138/hr. DOE

The Hardware Design Team is seeking a dynamic Industrial Design to contribute to all stages of the design process.
The ideal candidate should be a progressive, tech savvy and hands-on designer who is passionate about improving people’s lives.
In this role, you will be applying the same level of creative originality on client’s products and projects as their engineers have on world-changing leaps in technology and our everyday lives.
The right designer is a creative who’s driven to push the boundaries of design, not settling for the expected and conventional, but works to go beyond the norm.

You will be part of a team that’s responsible for creating, expressing and executing iconic, consumer focused experiences throughout the entire product journey.
Your main purpose is to take challenging ideas, technologies and carefully navigate trade-offs with the aim to present compelling physical designs.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with hardware engineers, marketing, user experience research and product leadership in all stages of the product development
- Express ideas and concepts through strong visual/verbal communication skills
- Create high and low-fidelity prototypes
- Participate in transitioning designs to manufacturing
- Stay on top of design and cultural trends and incorporate into design philosophy

Minimum qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Fine Arts or Industrial Design
- 5+ years of industry experience as an Industrial designer
- Portfolio of work demonstrating outstanding design skills and taste-level across a range of projects and products.
- Expert user of design tools: 2D (Photoshop, Illustrator) and 3D Cad (Alias, Solidworks, Rhino and Keyshot (or equivalent))

Nice to Have:
- Relevant work experience including designing consumer electronics, soft-goods, wearables and products for the home.
- Experience collaborating and communicating with vendors in Asia.
- Proven track record of designing products that have been successfully introduced to the US and international markets.
- Strong understanding for user needs and ergonomics
- Excellent understanding of form development, extreme attention to detail and manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to collaborate with other designers, marketing and hardware engineers to develop new solutions.
