Industrial Designer - Wearable Devices

You will work with a small, agile team within a fortune 500 company, in a startup like environment designing innovative wearable and embedded devices. You will work closely with members of the team, and will be responsible for product and industrial design, rapid physical prototyping and testing, and final design for manufacture. Bonus if you can handle some branding as well.

Key Job Responsibilities
• Formulate product design vision
• Understand engineering constraints and rapidly iterate through product designs
• Physically prototype and test ideas rapidly
• Work with team to narrow designs and plan for manufacture
• Along the way, document and communicate through compelling presentations of ideas and decisions

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or related field
• 4+ years professional product/industrial design experience (bonus for mechanical engineering experience as well)
• Strong portfolio, including work with consumer electronics (strong preference for experience with wearable devices)
• Keen eye for physical product design, e.g. proportions, color, form; and an intuitive feel for design, e.g. functionality, fashion, ergonomics, culture
• Aptitude for engineering and track record of working closely with engineers (bonus for familiarity with manufacturing processes, e.g. injection molding, flexible materials, fabrics, etc.)
• Physical prototyping and production experience
• Proficient in 2D software, e.g. Illustrator and Photoshop; as well as 3D software, e.g. Alias, Solidworks, Rhino, Keyshot
• Bonus for good graphic design and hand sketch skills
• Independent, plays well with others, strong work ethic; attention to detail and track record of resolving ambiguity through strong problem solving skills.
