IT/Software Project Manager

Our client in Aliso Viejo is looking for a temp to hire Project Manager who has extensive experience working with various cross functional departments in order to manage and ensure success with software projects!

Summary
Our client needs the kind of project or product manager that can take software or a mobile application concept from back-of-the-envelope idea to reality. Validate the presented concept for technical feasibility and then determine a time/dollar budget to make it happen. During the process, you’d need to keep everyone on-task and within budget (both dollars spent and time allotted). You would be part of the product testing and finally you would roll it out.

The project manager supports the start-up of projects, gives advice to improve the application of Scrum or other Agile delivery methods throughout projects, and spreads the best practices. The Project Manager promotes and facilitates in a cohesive manner the adoption of Agility within our vendors and internal staff, through team coaching, one-on-one mentoring, delivery of Agile training classes, workshops, briefings. The Project Managers sees to the overall objective cohesion of projects involving multiple teams.

Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Deep understanding of agile techniques and principles
• Advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle
• Experience with processes and tools supporting Agile methodologies
• Facilitation skills in leading planning meetings, reviews, and retrospectives
• Ability to identify risks/dependencies in technical product delivery, and understand technical issues
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
• Strong time management skills to work with the internal teams, executive staff, and vendors, often spinning multiple plates at once

Responsibilities:
• Manages the product line life cycle from SOW/strategic planning to tactical activities
• Specifies market requirements for current and future products and sets the Scope of Work
• Drives solution sets across development teams
• Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, and quality standards; resolving problems; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change
• Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
• Defines the scope of the project in collaboration with the executive team
• Creates a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
• Determines the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
• Develops a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
• Determines the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
• Develops records to document project activities
• Monitors the progress of the project and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
• Establishes and maintains a communication schedule to update stakeholders
• Reviews the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
• Ensures that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
• Coaches and mentors teams in the principles and practices of Agile to include Scrum, Kanban, XP, and Lean
• Facilitates planning sessions at multiple levels, including planning at the strategic, roadmap, releases, and sprint/iteration levels
• Interfaces with the executive team and technical vendors and staff. Provides input based on interpretation of analyzed data
• Manages the coordination of activities among vendors, marketing, and the executive team
• Reviews work for completeness and technical accuracy
• Ensures the functions are operating efficiently while focusing on continuous improvement, optimization of budget, measuring success and vendor qualifications,
