IA / UX Designer

A Vitamin T client is currently seeking talented and experienced Information Architects/User Experience Professionals to join their growing team of interactive technology professionals in Washington, D.C. This is a mid to senior level position that reports to the UX Director with salary commensurate to breadth and depth of experience. It is not a UI Design role.

DUTIES
- Assisting in defining project scope with the ability and flexibility to realistically scale efforts according to clients' financial considerations.
- Conducting discovery meeting to determine business requirements and constraints.
- Performing usability and competitive analyses as well as authoring related documentation.
- Providing ongoing usability analysis and strategic recommendations to clients in a consultative role.
- Conducting user and stakeholder interviews and workshops and authoring findings and recommendations.
- Developing comprehensive content inventories and sitemaps that capture all granular content.
- Developing comprehensive tagging taxonomies.
- Creating detailed (but not "designed") wire-frames for both information rich sites as well as complex functionality.
- Authoring use cases to inform functional requirements and user interactions.
- Developing usability test plans / scenarios and wire prototypes, implementing testing, and authoring related documentation.

REQUIREMENTS
- Prefer proficiency in Omnigraffle, InDesign, and / or Axure, but Visio is acceptable. Proficiency in more than one of these (particularly Omnigraffle and Axure) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and experience developing architecture for implementation in a CMS. Not a coding position, however.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially on subjects relating to the discipline. Ability to articulate thought processes and best practices of a user-centered experience.
- Positive attitude and open to direction. No prima donnas – nobody is too good to do whatever work needs to be done around here.
- Respect for and sensitivity to deadlines and budgets.

DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Bachelor’s / Master's degree or equivalent work experience in HCI, Information Architecture, or other relevant field.
- Experience in an agency environment, managing multiple engagements for multiple clients on any given day.
- Proven track record working on large, complex interactive engagements.
- Experience creating IA for mobile – optimized, responsive, or both.
- A proactive interest in new trends and approaches and yet a respect for value of traditional processes.
